Keira will be 5 in July and sleeps through anything. Therefore, she wets herself almost every night. I love her dearly and want her to learn to sleep in underwear, but the few times she did, the wetness did not bother her at all! Frankly, I don't want to change pee pants every morning, so she is still in diapers at night. SuperNanny would get me for it! What do I do?

My son had the same problem,we would limit what he had to drink in the evenings and make him go potty before he got in bed but all of that made VERY LITTLE difference. He has been potty trained for the longest time but still had accidents at night. Finally I started setting my alarm about every 2 to 3 hours and taking him to the bathroom all night long.He sleeps so hard that I was not waking him up I was just taking him to the toilet in his sleep. We gradually over time took him to the bathroom fewer and fewer times each night. But we never made a big deal out of it,we just said well try to wake up next time so you don't pee in your bed.Now he has been dry at night for a few months now but he will be 5 in just a few months. So it seemed like forever to my husband & I but I think it was as much him growing out of it as it was us taking him to the bathroom a million times a night. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

ok...my brother peed the bed until he was eleven. I quite frankly got sick of being peed on because I was in the bunk under him and he peed enough for it to soak through the wood. My mom tried everything. 1. Make sure there is a problem with the home situation that is causing it (most likely not). 2. I agree that you should try a reward system. 3. Don't give her anything to drink after 7pm. 4. Get up with her once or twice a night and make her go to the restroom. tedious, but the rewards are great. sincerely, sister that got peed on

hmm. Have you tried the pull ups that turn cold when they pee? That's like the only thing that I can think of right now. I like Renee's suggestion too.

The only advice I can give you- and you may have tried this before, but it worked for me.  I let my daughter pick out her own underwear and some very special stickers.  Everytime she woke up dry, I let her put a special sticker on a piece of paper that I hung on the fridge for everyone to see.  Once she started seeing how she could be rewarded for her positive behavior, I let her wear underwear one night a week- slowly building up until she was able to stay dry all night.  Good luck!  P.S.  make sure she doesn't have any underlining medical condition that could be causing her bed wetting.

Just posted this in response to a question about a 6 yr old - There is no shame here!

That's not too unusual - lots of kids have immature bladders and cannot go overnight. It's not something that they do on purpose, their bodies just haven't matured enough yet or they are very heavy sleepers. It can be frustrating for parents, though, so you may consider giving her the options of wearing pull ups, of teaching her to wash her own sheets so that she can change them herself, or of purchasing a device that sounds an alarm when it gets wet. Overall, it's best just to remember that it's not her fault, she's not doing it on purpose and she will outgrow it.
