I was wondering if anyone have the same problem and what to do about it. My 4 year old daughter grind her teeth when she sleep. It happens mostly when she turn over. It sounds like she is really eating stones. She is a very active and happy child otherwise.

hi amy here i would try taking your child to a dentist as they can make her a gum sheild which will protect her teeth and prevent toothache in the long run i have had this problem aswell hope this helps good luck x

Dentists don't generally give children mouth guards for teeth grinding. It is rather common for children to do this. Most grow out of it. If he continues to grind his teeth after he gets all his adult teeth, then talk to the dentist about the mouth guard. I have to wear one as an adult because I actually lossen and crack my teeth from nighttime clenching and grinding. The dentist though doesn't worry about my kids though. My daughter outgrew it and so has my son. If you are really concerned-ask your dentist.

I have a four year old son and he does the same thing. You know, it does sound like he's eating stones! It hurts my ears just to listen to it! I myself wonder if there's a way to prevent him from doing that when he sleeps.

It's normal. I used to grind my teeth all the time while I slept (so I was told). I would check with her dentist though just to be on the safe side. It can negatively affect her teeth. They may prescribe a night guard (a retainer to wear to bed to protect the teeth).
