My 4 year old boy (uncircumsized) has been complaining the past 2 1/2 days that his "penis is itchy." The tip of his penis was quite red 2 days ago, so we put cream on it. In the morning it looked fine. However he continues to grab at his privates, saying that it is itchy. Any idea what it could be? or what to do?

My son is 5 years old and has had an itchy penis for a few days. He also has a fever of 101.3 . He says it does not hurt when he pees. Could he still have a UTI?

Do you use bubbles in his bath, this was the culprit when my son had this very problem!

Hard to say. I am sure you know this, but I will mention it anyway. Some parents pull back the foreskin to clean the tip of the penis.
At this age, nature intends the foreskin to be attached to the tip of the penis. Each time the foreskin is pulled back, it actually creates an open wound which can very easily get infected.
Many doctors in this country don't know this and teach parents to pull the foreskin back.
If that is not the issue, I'd put him in very lose shorts, like basketball shorts and let the air get to it. I might give him a warm bath too. It is likey just an irritation. If it doesn't clear up, gets worse, or he has a fever, call in a professional

Perhaps it is dry? A cream might irritate it more. I would use Aquaphor instead. Does he have any issues peeing? If not, then it very well could just be dryness. If his pee burns, it could be a UTI (yes, boys can get them too).
