5 days late and two negative pregnancy tests?

I was 46 days late with my period. all negatives on the strips. had blood test done. neg too. Just way to stressed lately. Was kinda unnerving for me though, cause the only other time i was late was when I was pregnant with my now 2yr old. Just gotta watch my stress levels and keep on eye on my cycle.

I got two negative results when I was about a week late then finally got a positive, I knew at the time that I was pregnant but the tests said otherwise, if you go to the dr they'll be able to do z blood test and tell you for certain xx

my period was due on the first of the month i took 3 pregnancy test all are negitive i have that feeling that you get when and are... i been crampy and backachs... i dont know if im prego or just late on my period

I was 2 months late and took a pregnancy test ever week (one of those that cost like 6 bucks) and they all came back negative. I went and bought a 2 dollar test took it the next morning and it came back positive. SO maybe you should take a cheap test and then if that one is negative go to the doctor.

I would have to differ because when I got pregnant with my son and then had him my cycles remained the same and still to this day are the same after having my son and it being over a year I can tell you when and how long and everything. It might depend on the birth control you are on as well.

It's still kinda early so you might just be worrying for nothing. I say give it another week. Sometimes after we have kids our bodies get out of wack. But I'll agree with everyone else....go to the doctor to be sure!

pregnancy tests dont work for me. I was really late with m son and took 8 of them trying to see if i was pregnant. Come to find out thru a blood test I was in fact pregnant and the US to confirm it told me I was 6 weeks pregnant! So call your doc and ask them to do a blood test if your that worried. Then go from there.

I am soooooo grateful for this information.

I, too, have never been late in my cycle except when I was pregnant in 2008. As of today, I am 7 days late and have had repeated negative tests show up. My lower bacl hurts and I feel bloated...period or pregnant? We've been trying to get pregnant and I'm hoping I am, but the tests keep saying no. I really hope it's not something more serious. I'll call the doctor on Monday. Thanks to everyone for the great advice, and especially Brittani, for posting.

My friend is going through the same thing but you can always get a false negative but never a false positive so i would go to the doctor and have the doctor check you out.

when i got pregnant it took a month before it showed on a test it all just depends on the concentration of the horomone that the test is for you may be pregnant but the horomone concentration is to low for the test to pick up on but the only way to truly know is to go to the doctors and get a blood test done

I like you have the same cycle, usually mine comes 26th of each month and ends 29th. I experienced the same thing in December and didn't get it on the day I was suppose to. My last cycle to date was the 24th November and so i knew it would be hitting me around Xmas. Well this time xmas passed and a family trip up North to Cumbria and still nothing. I decide on the Thursday the 31st to take a pregnancy test, this resulting in a negative result. I knew from my previous pregnancy that i had to wait almost 2 weeks before a result would show a positive. I continued to wait and still nothing...We returned home on the 3rd and I took the second test on the 4th of January, knowing that I was almost 2 weeks late, but still a negative result. I was almost going to go to the doctor when on the 6th day of January i had a show. It wasn't like a normal bleed though, more gunky and clotting blood. This wasn't painful, but to me yucky. I believe it may have been a miscarriage, or the fact my body was stressed worrying about our holiday and decide for some unknown reason it decide to change cycle. I will see what the next mnths cycle brings. I wish you all the best, and if you are worried seek medical advice otherwise just let your body relax and follow mother nature's course xx

Okay, if you are already 5 days late then a pregnancy test SHOULD be accurate by now. The next time the clinic or your OBGYN is open (if you haven't started yet) you should go in.

Jennifer, that is called a chemical pregnancy. The egg was fertilized but failed to implant into the uterine lining. It happens more frequently than you would imagine. Most women have had this happen to them several times in their lives.

mine was like that last month i always start on the 26 or 27 and i didn't start until the 11th i took 2 pregnancy tests both negative my doc said that at times your cycle can change due to stress, lack of sleep, weight gain/loss he said no worries it can happen several times during a woman's life cycle he did say it could have been from an "almost pregnancy" (forgot what he called it) which is when you are pregnant but it does not stick to the wall and comes out in a menstral cycle (i didnt want to think of that too sad cause i want another one)

Thats happend to me a couple times. But because if like the weather change or well you stressin about it helps keep it away. I was 14 days late sometimes but not prego. Hang in there stay tuned to your body. your prob getting symptoms you mind is playin games on you. Good luck

Brittani - are you using a test that comes back in words or lines? I was a week late, all the prego tests I took came back NEGATIVE (worded, "not pregnant"), but I was feeling ill and had a gut feeling. So I went out and got a lined prego test. There was a very faint line, waited another day, and it was definately there, but lighter. Might be the same for you. Good luck!

Okay so my Doctor does not work on Fridays go figure. The teen pregnancy center is not open on Fridays. They have to do a pee test before they do a blood test, and that it was way to early to do a pee test so to wait ten days... :(

some times home pregnancy tests cant detect the hormone so its best to go to your doctor and ask for a blood test they are alot more sensitive and are 99.9% correct where as home pregnancy tests are only 94% correct x

i was supposed to start the 20th and didn't until the 25th. i had my baby july 18 and have gone back to my regular period until this month. just give it time or if it really worries you, go to the doctor.

I never exercise, never been on birth control, i am not stressed... well i mean now I'm kind of stressing not really stressing just a little worried... when do you think i could get a positive pregnancy test?

Hi! It can depend on your age, your exercise levels, your stress levels, birth control and many other environmental things. It can also simply mean that you are pregnant and it’s just too early to tell with a pregnancy test. The best thing you can do at this stage is to go and see your gynecologist or GP and then take it from there.

Oh also a friend of mine was 5 months pregnant before she knew she was pregnant. She bleed every month, not regular but she figured it was stress messing with her. She is due next week and has no idea if the baby will be ok becuase she was drinking the whole summer because she was told she miscarried...she has since been told she was pregnant with twins and lost one.

Brittani I had the same thing happen. My daughter was born July 11 and i got my first period the following month on the 14th and then 28 days later again and then in October i didn't get it. I was 3 days late and took a test. In front of my eyes 1 minutes later there it was...a big ol plus staring me right in the face. I was shocked to say the least but my husband and i came to terms with it and decided what will be will be. I took a test the enxt day to confirm and it was negatvie...but no period. 2 days alter took another still negative and then another. i was just over a week late and i got my period...i was now 5 weeks for periods. In November i got the Dr to do a test and it was negative and then my period was 5 weeks from the last one in October but then in December, the 5 weeks came and went with no signs of a period in sight. I took a test an it was negative. 2 days later i started to spot and then i got it full force and VERY painful. So i am now 6.5 weeks between periods at this point. My Dr ran blood work last week to make sure i wans't pregnant and i could start on birth control and my period for this month is 4 weeks from the one in december. Stress does make it worse by far. Try to relax and if in a few days you still don't' get it take another test. December was a very stressful time for me. It is never a fun month for me becuase we travel 900km to my in-laws who hate me and we have to stay a week and the drive is always a nightmare becuase there is snow or something going on. Now that i am back to my lifestyle i think it has fallen back on track and i'm glad i will be able to start the pill so i can stop worrying every month if i'll get my period or not.

Mine was 10 days late one month, why I don't know, probably stress for me. Espeically prolonged stretches of stress that can mess with it. But yes to go the doctor, I had a friend who didn't get a positive blood test for 2 months. So I guess it can take a long time to show for some women.

Linda, a woman's period can vary by as many as 7 days. More than that is not normal and should be seen by a doctor. Waiting longer than that can lead to serious health complications like infections, blood clots, and cysts.

Yeah I heard stress prolongs it (had that in the past). And I'm pretty regular too... Seeing as you've had regular ones again I wouldn't know any other reasons why you haven't gotten them (except pregnancy or stress). Sorry... hope you find some answers ;)

i took three with mine this time and they all became negative and that was in july, the doctor said i got pregnant in june. i was almost three months when it was really confirmed. better to go to the doctors.
