You need to WALK! walking induces labor specially @ this stage of your pregnancy.

i have gone up to 12 days over due..hospitals only let u go up to 10 days over, as a precaution that nothing happens.. after a certain amount of time, your placanta stops functioning as it should, and becomes dangerous for the baby.. and DO NOT have castor oil.. it not only makes you go to the toilet,but can also make your baby have a bowel movement inside the womb, and that can make them very sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Accupuncture worked for me. I was at 40wks.

He inserted needles round my ankles and contractions started 12hrs later.



A friend who's a masseuse told me she also knew pressure points in the ankles to kick it off.

I tried castor oil with my first and it didn't work because the baby wasn't ready to go but I was 2 weeks over due. But with my second, I did drink castor oil. Let me tell you what, it worked!! I have heard you can walk, go for a bumpy ride and swing on the swings at the park. None of which helped my sister-in-law who was pregnant with my nephew. When the baby is ready, it will be time!! Lots of sex, you have be careful of castor oil though because it might make u run to the toilet if you know what I mean, over wise walk lots be as active as you can that might get it moving, I was 10 days overdue with my last one 6 with the second and 7 with my first got induced with my last and I have to admit the labour was more painful then the first 2 but I didnt think labour was as bad as people say

My first was three weeks overdue, I went into labor naturally. Full term is defined as anytime between 38-42 weeks, so you're not technically overdue until 42 weeks and a day. The instance of stillbirth only goes up (and very slightly) at 43 weeks. Have you had a biophysical profile done? My midwives suggest getting one at 41 and 1/2 weeks. If baby is happy on the inside I would say let them bake a little bit longer.



And you don't have to be induced if you don't want to, they don't have power over your body. They may make you sign a waiver, but if everything is looking good for the baby then you can wait.



Just a side note, is this a due date calculated from your LMP, or was it calculated from an ultrasound? Ultrasound due dates can be off by a week. Also, is your menstrual cycle longer than 28 days? That can affect your due date as well. For example my average cycle is 32 days, so my due date is a little later than it would have been calculated from a 28 day cycle.

Two of mine were late. one the day before they were due. One was a long walk the day before and a HUGE burrito, then a hot bath. The second walking up and down stairs at an appartment complex for hours. And the third, just went in with contractions to the hospital and my dr broke my water. Had her two hours later, but the worst labor ever too! Good luck and I hope you had your baby by now.

seriously castrol oil works so well. I was super overdue and I drank it , went for a walk and in 4 hours I was laboring. It tastes like lipstick but worked great for me. I didn't ever hear why you should not take it but I never had any problems with using it and it didn't add any complications to the birth. Its in the laxative section in any local grocery or drug stores.

Complain that you are so uncomfortable and she may do for you what mine had done for me. I have one child and she is now 10 years old. I do not know what it is like to go past my due date. My nurse midwife did what they call stimulating the mucus plug. She stuck her hand inside of me and did something that was painful, but it was worth the pain cause it put me into labor the very next day. If your baby is full term there is no reason for them to keep you in a position where you are uncomfortable. Ask to have your mucus plug stimulated.

Don't worry so much! Every day you have at home with your first is another you can spend alone! I was 2 1/2 weeks late with my first and 9 days later than expected with #2 & 3. It's ok!

there is really nothing u can do except on the call of the Doc in charge of you , somethimes we miss calculate, just as long as your gynocolgist is seeing you than all you can do is wait till the baby is ready to come. wait on mother nature....

I believe wholeheartedly that what finally made my water break was when my sister, who was there in the hospital with me, rubbed the uterus acupressure points on my legs (just up from the ankles a bit). Out of 3 kids, my water was always broke by the dr, until THIS TIME! Also--when I was about 6mo along and had a pedicure, the little oriental girls were verrry careful that they didn't go anywhere near that area--so they believe in it as well :)

I'm a big believer in the power of the moon affecting birth. My sister, my best friend, friends at work and myself all went into labor around the full moon. The next moon is Thursday 25th. On the eve of the full moon I was 4 days "overdue". I took a chair and sat in the moonlight...two hours later I went into labor. I'm no hippy...but can't hurt trying if you've not come by then.

Climb a lighthouse with 280 stairs each way and a full round of golf *oh wait* that's what I did and not recommended by most OBGYNs, midwives etc.....ohh yeah and lots of sex if you really want all those prostaglandins, the hormones that ripen and cause your cervix to open for delivery-you should give him *um* head ingesting those hormones is the like the difference between swallowing your multivitamin and rubing it on your skin. And your hubby will keep a smile on his face thru your entire transition.

Hey hun, hang in there, i'm approaching my due date and i'm totally over it! So i've been researching ways to bring on labour just in case i go over due. Lavender oil scented bath, or oil burner, swinging on a playground swing is apparently supposed to help, go for a drive over a bumpy road, ...how ever my favourite is, wear your best knickers! murpheys law, your waters will break while your wearing them and ruin them!....but hey i'll give anything a go! goodluck! :)

Go to a doctor , get an ultrasound to make sure th baby is ok, and if necessary the doctor will induce labor or do a c-section, I was told my baby took up all my placenta when I was 5 days over and f the hdn't induced me I would have had to have a c-section. Good luck!

Call your doctor and find out if you can be induced! Inducing labor is common practice especially for "postdates". (I have also heard that castor oil works.) Good Luck!

i'd just go with the flow. though my 1st one came about a week early, my 2nd was a week late to come out. my doctor recommended an induction after 5 days but (my husband, parents and inlaws were so impatient for my baby to come out while i was pretty mellow) i requested another 48hr... the next morning my water broke... i have to warn you that your coming labour experience might or might not be as same as your first one. good luck on your 2nd.

I won't be long now!!! The baby can not stay in there for ever.

I remember when I wanted to get thing moving (and my babies were always later than the due date) with my second I went snorkeling. the water took the weight off and I just kept kicking and asking my son as it turned out if he could get a move on because he was getting to heavy and I wanted to hold him in my arms.

I also got a kick start from eating a Thai chilly curry yummy with my 4th.

But it will happen you can count on that any day now if not to today. Have Fun!!

take it easy! I have two boys. The second was 12 days overdue and came out at exactly the same weight and size as the first. 5 days is not a problem at all. Nor is two weeks as long as your ambiotic fluid isnt running out. If you are worried get an ultrasound, but really. though its a pain to be so huge, just rest up for the big day, have sex (its the semen that does the trick- in fact what they give you to induce labor IS a chemical derivative of bull semen!!) go for a bumpy ride. Its worth the wait as long as you are checking to make sure everything is okay. After two weeks they will induce you though. If they try to do it sooner dont let them unless there is an urgent reason. Good luck.

well I am hoping you have had your baby by now. I was two weeks overdue and I did everything under the sun to get my son to come out and he just wouldnt. I was 1 centimeter for 2 weeks.. they had to enduce me finally. I hope that you dont have to be enduced.

But try sex, warm bath, long walks, bumpy car rides, glass of wine... Have your doc do a sono and make sure u have enough amnotic fluid, that is the reason they ended up putting mei in the hospital and enducing me. Good luck sweetie!!

some hospitals still use castor oil.....I've did it in 1983 when I was 14 days over ...and it worked for me in 7 hours....1/2 cup...

Listen I now this is probably not helpful, but I was 2 weeks early with my first and 12 days overdue with my 2nd. I was climbing the wall by the time I was in labour and had just moved overseas so didn't have the family support I needed. But as it turned out my second was not really 12 days overdue probably a couple instead, I tried everything - long walks, eating just fruit for a day, curries, spicy food, wine, sex, sweeps. I hate to say this but she/he will come when he is ready. I now have a 3 month old and the waiting is behind me. I know it is hard - I've been there but you only have another 1-2 weeks to wait now maximum as they won't let you go beyond 42 weeks ish

All this worry about an EDD...remember that for thousands of years women gave birth without it being managed to the hilt. I agree with everyone who says to relax. Your baby will come when it is ready. Guessing the date that one will go into labour is just that: a guess. You may be tired of the pregnancy, that I understand completely, having gone through 4 of them myself, but your baby will come when the time is right. This induction thing is a good way to make put some extra cash in the doctors' pockets and to make sure that you don't interrupt their routine...they want it done when they want it done. Have you looked into the stats on whether inducing labour in any way reduces the morbidity or mortality rates at birth? I highly doubt that it does and in fact would not be surprised if there were indications that interference actually increased the morbidity, if not the mortality rates.

Don't do castor oil! It works yes... my mom used it with me but it also gave her diahrrea... I wish I could tell you for sure but I was a month over due with my first and what finally did it for me was spicy mexican food and a bumpy ride in a jeep.

2 out of 3 of mine were 9 to 14 days overdue. Babies will not arrive until they are good and ready or you are induced. All the suggestions are just that, suggestions that make you think you will bring on labor early. There's nothing wrong with inducing labor if you have a good Dr. The only thing I would ask would be is your Dr. doing or speaking about a stress test depending on how "overdue" you really are. This just verifies everthing is okay for the baby and you to continue to let you go past your due date.

Take a good long sniff of Clary Sage oil (you can get it from the health shop) very couple of hours, 2 Tablespoons of water in a glass of orange juice and a good brisk walk, but make sure you midwife\doctor is happy for you to do so. Clary Sage is a uterine stimulant, worked for my last 2.
