Laura - - What does clary sage do?? I've never heard of it! How was your labor? Mine was castor oil induced (which according to a lot of moms on here is bad for some reason.. never heard that aside from the diarrhea.. why did you hear it was bad?) and was fast and furious, I often wonder if it was like that because of the castor oil or that's how I would have been anyway.

Did she suggest Castor oil? I took 2oz at 12pm and my water broke at 5:30. My son was born 3 hours later. It gives you diarrhea but definitely worth it in my opinion!

I had a really good foot massage and it worked like a charm! Something about pressure points I think. Good Luck :)

There are prostaglandins in semen that help get things going IF your body is already perparing for labor. They are absorbed more quickly through the stomach. try a good massage. that always helped me. my hubby rubbed my sides and lower back. doing pelvic rocks on an exercise ball may help too.

Sex, sex, sex...there's a hormone in ejaculate that thins the membrane. Worked for me ;0) I've heard that Acupuncture works.

I agree 5 days isn't really that long, my mom was 3 wks over due with me. Sex and spicy food are supposed to be the best. Try also taking a slow drive over a couple of speed bumps, everytime I drive over speed bumps I can feel contractions!!!

Eats lots of greasy/spicy foods. Pizza and Taco Bell is what did it for me, and lots of walking. There are also pressure points in your ankles that can help induce naturally.

Has your doctor stripped your membranes? It's not induction and it only takes a few seconds. When my doc did this my water broke within 14 hrs. I wasn't even overdue.

Are you sure they didnt get the date wrong? Many midwifes are good for that. Especially since it is your second child. That is just odd to me.

Just relax. I was 9 days overdue with my second son, and labour was even induced on the 4th day, but still the baby did not want to come. I was so stressed since he didnt want to come that after some days i tried not to think of it and tried to relax, and eventually he came, and it was a very smooth labour.

You just need to give nature time. The baby will come when its ready to come out. And when you are at ease. Don't panic, don't stress, just try to relax and keep your mind off things.

PS my friend used herbs (not saying which) to try and induce labor...IT WORKED!!!! Though, her baby was born with an amazing amount of lanugo hair...she was probably preterm because of the wrong EDD!!!!

Squeeze your nipples!!! If they try and induce you, per their protocol....fight it if it's not what you want and all is well in the womb!!! Their guesstimate date is up to two weeks off anyway!!!!

Hi Laura!
I was over due 15 days. I had a over due check up in the 12th day. My baby was not showing any sings for coming out. Then they gave me some homeopathic pills to start the labour "naturally", I took them every our, 6 pills in total. Next day my labour started with out inducing. Good luck, Suvi

Just let mother nature take her course. When the baby is done, baby will come. Due dates are only estimates based on an average 28 day cycle, so rest assured, the day will come!! My first was 13 days post EDD and he showed NO signs of being a post term baby....I just have longer than average cycles. All of mine are 1-2 weeks "late".

in four letters....w-a-l-k...walk walk walk...I know you feel uncomfortable but believe me. I was nine days late with my oldest. They walking will help the contractions, and it is great for labor and to get back in shape quicker. Walk in the house if you have to...just keep moving...they will come...

I was watching a midwife show on Discovery Health a few years ago and this women was in your same situation, they gave her a breast pump and told her to pump. The purpose is that breast stimluation is suppose to start contractions. Since it sound like you tried everything else, this may work. Good luck.

well i was also overdue by 3days when i had a pelvic exam and the doctor told me i would be back to him that night but baby just wasnt ready so 2 days after i was tired of being pregnant so i decided to have sex on that night and as little as five minutes later low and behold i was in labour but the trick is the sperm it helps soften and opens the cervix so if he doesnt ejaculate forget it and i was also schedule for induction later on that day.. she was born at 3:20 the same morning

hi, i was due to be induced 6 days after my due date and i tried most things to get bubs to move alng including sex and none of them worked. Your bubs will come when they are ready. We even threatened bubs that if he didnt come the day before then he will be forced out due to being induced the next night, Well my little man listened to us and was born the night before i was to be induced he was 5days over due. He is now 2weeks old and a happy healthy little boy. i wish u all the best but most second born children are always late, my little man is number 2 child for me.

I was 10 days over due and started trying everything and nothing would work. Than someone told me sex worked for them so I tried that and it worked only hours later I went into labor. All these doctors anymore want to induce, I think they just want to have scheduled deliveries, so it dosen`t screw up their social plans.

Have you tried Red Raspberry Tea? They say it can start contractions. The castor oil route I would NOT try...I know someone who tried it and it didn't go well. Bad idea there, lol. Exercise, maybe? Walk a lot. Also, you have to remember that baby probably just isn't ready to come out yet. You don't want all the problems like constant projectile vomiting, reflux, underdeveloped digestive system in the baby either if he or she is born earlier than they want to come out. That's the way my first was and he was colicky forever and now has autism which means a LOT of crying and whining. I'm sorry to put a damper on it all. I know how it feels when you want that baby out, LOL. Just enjoy being pregnant while you can because when we're not, some of us just want that baby still there....

Your stressing too much. She/he will come out when they are ready. I was 9 days late when I had my daughter. But sex also helped. I never really tried any of the other suggestions. Good luck!!

My doctors had no faith in me at all, my inducement date was set 20 weeks in advance ! Turns out I was induced at 35 weeks.... so personally I have no experience at getting it going naturally ! But I have heard that Castor Oil is really bad for you, makes you vomit and gives really bad diarehea.... Not nice ! Probably one to avoid there !

I know your probably really fed up with being pregnant, but enjoy the time you have being pregnant. Its the one and only time you have where your the only person how can take care of your baby and keep him/her safe ! I lost 5 weeks that my baby really needed ! I had pre-eclampsia.

There is no specific thing that'll kickstart labor. I tried it all (apart from sex, my partner thought he'd poke the babies head - muppet) and nothing helped.

Curry, hot stuff, bath & red wine, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, walking. My midwife advised not to do castor oil, can't remember why but must have been a good enough reason ;) Have you had the membrane sweep yet?

You'll just have to go with the flow, it'll either happen by itself or not. Carry on trying to kickstart it with all suggested maybe something does work for you.

Keeping fingers crossed for you :) x

P.S.: 5 days isn't too long, I was 10 days over. I think they wait a max of 14 days.

I say it's too many days overdue. Call your doc. and change the appointment. I was seven dayz overdue and should've gone in earlier. Doctor told me. So I hope you call in.
