I started feeding my 6 month old baby food a few weeks back... just wondering what other mom's out there feed their babies and how the transition was for them... he eats anything i give him - but i dont want to overfeed... he can be very greedy most times!

Once they get a taste of "real" food, they don't want to lose it. When my boys were that age, I would always watch their faces. If their eyes started to droop and they weren't eating as fast, I would stop feeding them. I would also feed them baby cereal mixed with formula in the mornings for breakfast and give them a bottle at night before bed.

My daughter will be 6 months old on September 30th. She has been on rice cereal since she was about 4 months old; I noticed she wasn't being satisfied with formula alone. I supplement her bottles with 1-2 tablespoons of cereal 3x/day (morning, lunch, before bed). Her pediatrician also recommended introducing fruits/veggies (bananas, pears, apples, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas). I introduced 1 kind for 3-4days to rule out allergies; I usually mix the fruits/veggies in with her cereal or if I notice she is more hungry, I will give her some plain. I notice my daughter is taking anywhere from 32-40oz of formula/day supplemented with the cereal w/fruits/veggies. Hope this helps!

he is doing great on the baby food... i started him on the cereal when he was 3 months and he still loves that too...
8 ozs of formula for a 3-4 month old? wow. my son is 6 months and he gets 4-5 ozs in a bottle... i'm always afraid of overfeeding... i know chubby babies are cute, i just dont want him to be unhealthy

Is he doing ok on the baby food? Cheerios i found was the best for my kids. I guess he is on cereal also? I started with my kids when they was 3-4 months when they was going through 8 ozs of formula every 2 hours on cereal and that helped

I've always done baby food at family meal times and then formula if they're hungry in between.

If he is hungry let him eat. Just make sure he is drinking plenty water and formula.
