my daughter is 6 1/2 months old now and still doesn't crowl. she can sit up alone for a long time, hold her bottle by her self, play and understand how to use her toys, and jump like crazy on her jolly jumper...and yet can't crowl, she roll her self around on the floor. her Dr said it's fine, most kids will learn to walk right away, is that true?

Anyways........i'm not sure if this is normal or if i should push her to learn to crowl.......any suggestions??????

My own mother never crawled. When she turned one year old, she simply stood up,and started walking.

My son, who is now 4 and 1/2 never really crawled. He did a little scooting around and then just started walking at about 10 months. He has great motor skills - there was no problem. Same thing happened to his father when he was a baby.

In Early Childhood which is my job the concern is not with crawling it is with walking and talking. Your child will either walk first or talk first. My daughter didn't walk by herself until she was 15 months she would hold on hands and walk just fine walking next to me. She could say more words tahn what most 18 month olds do and now at 19 months she say's several sentences, knows her colors, most of her shapes and can count to three by herself. She has even started spelling her name she will tell you there is a "e" and an "a" in her name which is Merissa. Don't stress about crawling if they roll and can scoot around that is just fine!

Never push but if she is 8 mo and still aint crawling I would contact healthy families they can do denver test on the baby if you do not have a healthy families call you soulshal services they should be able to tell you were to get a denver test by the way all the test is is to see if your child is where he/she should be

Don't worry about it. Mine didn't crawl until she was almost 8 months. It's no biggie. They all do things at different times.

My daughter is 8 months old and still can't crawl either. She has been doing the same as your baby since about 5 months but isn't into crawling. some babies just don't crawl at all and just want to go straight to walking. I would NOT worry one bit your baby will crawl when she's good and ready.

My son didn't crawl until he was 10 months old...he scooted at 8-9 months and then walkedn around 11 months. He runs everywhere now!!! He just turned 2 and is very healthy in every other aspect. They only suggestion i have is leave her on the floor even when you leave the room if at all possible so if she wnts to follow mommy she will in time. Don't lug her everywhere...she's getting a free ride right now and i would take it too. If she's rolling everywhere that too is also fine. Kids just have idfferent ways of wanting to get to what they want:)

I personally think they will crawl when they are ready and not to push them or worry too much. Every child is different.

Don't worry Marse, my daughter didn't crawl until she was almost 10 1/2 months and now i cant get her to walk and she is almost 14 months. i was worried too, b/c my son crawled at 3 1/2 months and was walking by 7. but dont stress over it and dont push her. she will crawl in time..and on the plus side once they start crawling and walking all you want them to do is sit down and that takes them at least 18 years..LOL. just enjoy it while it lasts. they are only little for a little while.

my children didnt crawl til they were older. most 6 mo. old usually dont cralw at that ge, they are learning to sit up. But remember every child is different and learn at different rates. There is no certain age for most things our children learn. Getting teeth, walking, potty training etc. So dont let anyone tell you different. If you feel something is wrong, talk to your doctor.

I think each baby has her/his own pace. Most babies start crawling around 9 months. So dont worry, she'll crawl when she's ready.

I've always hears that babies develope either physically or mentally when they are little. My baby sister didn't crawl until she was 9 months but was walking without assisstance at 10 months. As she grew she was reading and writing at 4 and went on to become a straight A student and Salutatorian of her senior class while perticipating in activities at school and working a full time job. She enjoyed all of it and is now a freshman in collage. Everyone grows and developes at thier own rate. Enjoy it all.

This is very normal. Six months is usually the earliest they will crawl. Make sure she crawls before she walks though! This is very important in a baby's development. Every baby is different.

By the time my middle son was 6 months old he weighed 25 pounds. He was a round roly poly ball!! He could not even roll over. When on his belly he got aorund by pushing himself backwards. He would get his feet and legs wedged in the funniest places, under the couch, under the TV stand... By the time he was 9 months old he was WALKING!! And now he is 16 years old and is skinny as a twig!! You can NEVER judge a child's future by what they are doing at this very moment. Just relax and enjoy that you can keep her contained for now!! Soon she will be up and running and so will you!!! :)

Both my children really did not crawl. They were more interested in pulling themselve up and standing. Most children will develope at their own time, Keep encourgaging and enjoying them at this stage because when they really get going you will be quiet busy keeping up with them.

I totally agree with Amanda's response. All babies - as with all humans - are different with different strengths and talents. Not everyone will be as another. I personally never crawled - I arse crept (sat upright with my left foot tucked in and my right leg chuffing me along the floor). So my folks placed a polish cloth under my butt and I cleaned the floors as I chuffed along! I was one of the fastest runners in my school, quite academic and at the height of my career a global network (IT) operations teamleader for an international accountancy firm. Now I am the proudest grandmother of a grandson and daughter - so we all progress from the crawling stage - however it starts! Much love and encouragement to you and your family - sounds like you are doing extremely well as a first time mom.

Hi, I hope by now u must be a bit relaxed reading so many responses from so many mom's. But still I would like u to know my experience.... I know exactly how u r feeling as I have crossed your stage ! My daughter who is 3 yrs old now started crawling as soon as she turned 6 months ( which eveyone tells me is very early), at that time she could not even come to a sitting position by herself and could only sit for 1-2 mins without support, she walked at 13 months. But my son ( who is 15 months now) did not crawl untill he was 9 and a half months, he could not even coming to the sitting position by himself till he started crawlling. U can imagine how worried I must have been..... I must have searched intrernet for hrs and hrs..... kept asking Dr if eveything was alright..... Although Dr assured me again and again that he is perfectly OK yet I WAS WORRIED ......and then one fine morning he started to crawl just like that !!! He crawled when he was ready! Then at 12 months he started walking and now he is running!
So, please stop worring and be assured that your daughter will crawl when she is ready... she is already doing so many things that my kids never did at her age, so she is already ahead of many kids of her age :-)! One more thing my experience says that u can not teach kids how to crawl... they do it ONLY WHEN THEY R READY! I have spent many hrs wasting time and energy on teaching "crawling" to my son( doesn't help at all !) its a natural process and babies just do it naturally when they r ready.... u can take my word for it :-)!
All the very best for you and your darling daughter!!!

Hi Marse, 2 of mine never crawled, they are now 17 and 16 yrs old and very sporty. My 17 yr old suffled around on her bottom for months then just pulled herself up and walked. Don't worry, a lot of babies never crawl, as she can sit on her own she is fine, and your Dr has said she is fine! One day you will find her pulling herself upright and then walking, enjoy xx

No worries every baby completes things in their own time. I have three children and the first one crawled at like 5 months my daughter crawled at 7 months and my third didn't start crawling until almost 9 months. Don't worry too much right now about little things like that. Get in all that extra time because as soon as they start moving around then you have other trouble to have to worry about....lol.

STOP!!!! don't worry, cause once it happens and then the next step is to walk, then you will really regret asking this! Don't worry any child only develops 1 thing at a time, they do not multitask yet. and believe me its much easier when they are semi immobile!

I just wanted to say that she will be fine. Not all babies crawl. Some jsut get up one day and run lol. When I was a baby I never crawled. My mother was worried and dragged me to the doc about it. And the doc said not to worry. Matter of fact I didn't walk until I was almost 2. Hey I liked being carried around hehe. Crawling is hard on the knees. But my point is every baby is different and theres no set guidelines for when they will crawl. I have 5 kids and each one crawled at different times. One crawled at 5 months, two crawled at 7 months, one crawled at 10 months. And one never crawled, he got up and walked at 8 months. So don't worry, she will be fine.

She'll crawl when she's ready honey. Don't worry so much. They all do things at different stages. My little girl didn't sit up on her own til she was 10 months and didn't crawl til she was 11 months. Very, very soon afterwards she was cruising round the furniture and at 14 months she started walking. All babies are very different in their development and do things at different times. I've known babies walking at 9 months and some don't until they're 18 months. My mum told me I was nearly 2 and used to bum shuffle. Just be patient and she get around to it in her own time. xxxxxxx

And now that he crawls he is into everything so don't push it and just enjoy the fact that she still stays mainly in one place while playing with her toys. Don't worry she will learn soon enough

Don't worry too much about it. Each child is different and some don't even crawl. If your Dr. is not worried then you should not be either. It sounds like developmentally everything else is working the way it should.. Consider yourself lucky and she may just learn to walk and skip right by crawling all together. I have 3 boys and none of them really crawled. WE have hard wood floors too so that makes a big difference. But they scooted and made their own version of the standard CRAWL.. Enjoy her and all of her accomplishments. Maybe try encouraging her to crawl by challenging her to reach things further out of reach.. Hand in there.. :)
