6 week ultrasound with identical twins in same sac, no hearbeat..

I just had my first U/S, at 6 weeks and 2 days. my doctor looked and said holy cow. theres two! But they are in the same sac. but also seem to have their own seperate sacs within the one. which is better. so next was to see the heartbeat.. which was not apparent. I was devistated.. She got some blood work from me and perscribed me progesteron medication to maybe help. But I've been hearing that 6 weeks is a little early to see a heartbeat? Is this right? I go back in another week to try again. my doc said there should be an obvious hearbeat though. I'm a big ball of emotions right now. so some personal experience feedback would help a ton. Thanks!

Thanks everyone, of course I was upset at first. But from what I've been researching, there is still hope. So the trick is to somehow stay relaxed and calm. I'll keep you all posted what happens next week.

I agree. I think its still abit early. I wouldn't worry just yet. And especially if it's twins because they are naturally smaller anyways. Take it easy and try to relax. STRESS isnt good. lol

6wks is early to see a heartbeat. I wouldn't worry yet. Within the next few weeks would be best. I don't understand why they do U/S so early because they cause mom's so much unneeded stress.

I just looked it up and according to americanpregnancy.org it can typically be seen between 6 1/2 and 7 weeks so your still a bit early.

I didn't even know I was pregnant at 6 weeks, I think I was closer to 8-10 weeks with both of my kids. I didn't see the heartbeats until about 10-12 weeks with my kids. I hope all is well with your twins. Keep us posted and try and remain optimistic, although I understand it is hard and this situation sucks.
