I was like that during my third pregnacy, I did not like taking the meds so much. I drank Tropical Punch Kool Aid, and it helped settle my stomach. Not the sugar free variety either. Hope you get better soon.

If you are looking for a natural way to control the sickness, try ginger root capsules.. they worked awsome for me.. even better than the medication they tried to give me.. It is completely harmless for the baby and much cheeper!! Really you have nothing to lose..

The worst thing you can do is not eat. Hunger just aggravates the nausea. Find the one thing that sounds even moderately appealing and eat that. Try to get a little protein when you first wake up. Try to avoid smells, and any sights/activities (have hubby or a friend clean kitchen, bathrooms for awhile) that might be aggravating it. Try a change of scene - a walk in the fresh air really helps.

If you can get a protein shake down, that's what I did and get plenty of fluids. They may give you something for nausea if it continues. But just make sure you're getting tons of fluids even if they come back up! :( So sorry you're feeling bad!

I say steer clear of any meds, the dr did give me meds but I didnt want to take anything while I was prego.  So here are some things that I did I was very ill with both of my pregnancies but only for the first trimester so hopefully it will be that way for you...try pedialyte popsicles so first and foremost you wont dehydrate and you won't need the emergency room and iv.  I ditched the regular prenatals because they made me ill and took 2 flintstone vitamins which my OBGYN said was fine.  I also used sea bands you can find them at  a drug store or on line.  I think the trick is not to use the normal things you would if you had an upset stomach...like saltines and 7 up or bread because all that made me sicker.  If something sounds good try it and if it works for you no matter what it is eat it even if it isnt very healthy.  That is what by OB told me and DR Pepper helped my nausea so I drank it and pizza and bean burritos sat well with me so I ate that (= sounds silly but I say if you think you can keep it down then try it and if it works keep it up and soon I am sure you will be feeling better.  Keep us posted!

I had morning sickness (really more like all-day sickness) for my entire pregnancy. First off, if you can't keep fluids down you need to go to the ER (so you don't get dehydrated). Secondly 5 pounds is not much to worry about, you'll gain it back later anyhow. Preggy Pops help, and you can order them online (you get more for less $$ than buying them at the big chain baby store), but otherwise you may just need to call your doc. It took me about 3-4 months to finally find a medicine that worked & I made two trips to the ER for dehydration during those first few months. You just have to find what works for you, the extra vit. B didn't help me, neither did Zofran (which is supposed to be the good stuff) and neither did Phenegran oral. Just call the doc to see what they recommend.

That sounds identical to me when I was 8 weeks pregnant.  I was sick all day every day for a while.  I couldn't keep anything down, including water.  It was miserable.  It is normal to lose weight at the beginning of a pregnancy.  I don't think you should worry to much about it.  Just try nibbling on saltines.  The big thing is to stay hydrated!  I was starved for days but continued taking my prenatal vitamins and drink as much water as I could.  Just hang in there it will pass.

I feel your pain. With both my pregnancies I had hyperemesis and I hope and pray that is not what you have. I couldn't keep anything down ...not even a sip of water. With my first pregnancy they thought it was just over active morning/noon/night sickness which would pass after the 1st trimester, when it didn't they had to put in a central line and basically the "food" I got was how my baby grew and gave me the strength I needed to carry the baby to full term. My ivy did not come off till I was a little over 7 months pregnant, by then I was able to keep down certain foods and gained back a little bit of the weight I had lost. My second pregnancy, I was only 6 weeks along and the ivy went up and stayed until a little over my 7th month. You need to consult your nurse practioner and/or obgyn....please don't wait until your next appt.

You will feel better on a full stomach! The more often your stomach is empty the acids make you nauseated...eat some carbs, toast, cereal, something that will absorb all the stomach acids

I AM PREGNANT WITH MY FIRST AND LOST 12 POUNDS THE FIRST MONTH THEY STARTED WEIGHING ME. I COULDN'T EAT OR EVEN SMELL FOOD FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS. THE ONLY THING I COULD TOLERATE WAS SALTINES AND GINGERALE. ONCE IN AWHILE I WAS ABLE TO EAT A PIECE OF FRUIT, BUT OTHER THEN THAT I COULDN'T STAND FOOD! NOW I'M 7 MONTHS AND EAT ANYTHING I CAN GET MY HANDS ON! SO IT SHOULD GET BETTER!  THEY TOLD ME TO DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS AND TRY TO GET SOMETHING DOWN, IT WILL PASS. GOOD LUCK

I had hyper emisis throughout my pregnancy. I puked the day I delivered. I lost a total of 20 pounds during my pregnancy. I was throwing up 4-5 times a day UNLESS I was on Zofran. You should call your doctor if you're having the same issues I was. If you are only feeling nauseas and not actively vomiting I would try the home remedies first: ginger ale, flat coke and soda crackers, a banana first thing in the AM. Like a previous poster mentioned it could be the prenatal vitamins. I would call your OBGYN and just give them a heads up if things don't improve soon.

Crackers and Ginger Ale. NO DARK SODAS. Fresh lemonaid is good. Try eating a apple..

My first pregnancy was perfect. This second one was the same as ur second, but I forced myself to eat. I lost 7 lbs. and gained it back. I eat like a pig now...lol. You should feel better after ur first trimester...It's probably the prenatal vitamins too!

I was the same with both my pregnancies, the one before and now this one. I would go up to seven days without keeping anything down. I lost 20 lbs my first pregancy. This time I'm on Maxalon an anti-nausea medication which has helped tremendously. I also take my prenatal vitamins at nighttime before bed which helps as they were making me sick too. Also, vitamin B6 whenever I felt sick (you can't overdose on it). My midwife always said that babies at this stage don't need much nutrients so the baby will be fine. Try to keep your water intake up as dehydration is the main concern. Hope that helps

Your description sounds just like mine! My first pregnancy was a breeze and this time I was sick for the first five months. My doctor first gave me Reglan, but it made me sleepy. He then  gave me Zofran. That didn't work at all. He put me on the scopalimine patch (usually given to prevent seasick symptoms or nausea). That did work, but it was expensive even with insurance and after a few months I developed a mild reaction to it. It was also hard to tell if my morning sickness was going away or if it was the patch working. You keep it on for 3 days at a time. Finally, he put me on antivert which worked well, but I was at the fifth month so I think the m/s was just starting to go away by that time.

weak tea, saltine crackers, peanutbutter cheese crackers (although I am not sure if these have been recalled) and applesauce were some of the foods that I could tolerate. Good Luck!

Hi! When I was pregnant with my first son, I was the exact same way and lost 32 pounds in my first 4 months. We were becoming concerned and right at 17 weeks, I got my appetite back and was able to begin eating and gaining weight like normal. I gained that 32 pounds back and a few more and my son was born healthy and on time. Maybe it's just a "phase?" I never had this happen in any of my other pregnancies *total of three, one of which was twins." Only with the first.

Oh and I forgot, ginger ale helps you because of the ginger.... so my doctor has me drink ginger teas... which I personally didn't like the taste of and then switched me to ginger capsules that you can buy OTC. VERY helpful the third time around, wish I had known the entire time.

Try organic shakes with soy- this was all I could keep down. Remember that a tiny bit of protein in the morning will make you more stable all day, and that little bits spaced out along the day will be far better than big meals. I was sick for 8 mos of each baby, practically from conception! I also had trouble even keeping liquids down with the first, and had to be rehydrated by IV. Don't let yourself get that way, let me tell you!

Keep from food with strong smells, as that can trigger it, of course. Saltines on the bedside table, eaten when you wake can work miracles. Go slow and give yourself a break as much as a mom can.

Best of luck!

I lost 20 lbs. in the first trimester with each of my kids. With my first I was in bed for 6 weeks, unable to sit up with out vomiting; with my second I didn't have that luxury :) so I just threw up CONSTANTLY. Fruit juice popsicals were about the only thing I could keep down, so I pretty much lived with one in my mouth at all times. Like someone else mentioned, eat whatever you think sounds good. At this point keeping anything down is better than nothing!

I lost weight at the beginning of ALL 3 pregnancies, but what worked for each one was different each time. With my oldest, I ended up on suppositories because I vomited even water up. With my second, I ate soda crackers and had to eat every two hours because it was the empty stomach and lack of calories making me sick. With my third, and only girl, I lost 14 lbs total, didn't gain any of it back til I was almost 7.5 months pregnant. I didn't end up on meds, but I was instructed to eat small meals, 6 times a day, of ANYTHING that sounded good to me, no restrictions (save for hazardous foods), and also eat snacks if I felt the least bit nauseated in between that. I puked anyway, but by doing this, I was able to keep from losing anymore weight than I had in the 1st 3 months. Also, I became a HUGE smoothie and juice fan. 100% juices, milks, shakes, smoothies. With the prenatals, they seemed to stay down better than food and I was at least getting calcium, vitamins and not getting dehydrated.

Good luck!!!

MY ADVICE IS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU SHOULD MEDICALLY DO, IT IS HOW I SURVIVED MORNING SICKNESS

I was sick to my stomach with the very thought, sight and smell of normal food. NOTHING sounded like it was anywhere close to being edible...until I discovered the little frozen lemon ice treats in the ice cream section. Once I ate that the nausia subsided a bit and I was able to move to only FRESH, uncooked veggies and fruit. That eventually led me to FRESH authentic mexican restaurant salsa and corn chips. I got the mild salsa, not for the lack of spices, but for the lack of onions and bell peppers. The acidic content in both the lemon ice and tomatoes helped settle my stomach as crazy as it sounds, and the chips added substance...something that would, "stick to my ribs" so-to-speak. Once I was able to move on to the fruits n veggies it was an easier transition to normal food. Hot food was not my first choice though. It took a while to reach that goal. Seriously though, try this plan. It helped all of my friends who underwent the same agonizing curse of nausiated morning sickness! lol

I pray that you will give this a chance. I know it will help. OH...good brands for the Italian ice is Luigi's (lemon NOT strawberry) &/or Breyer's lemonade popsicle bars. Fruit...start with grapes and peeled apples. Then once you're over the texture issue, move to strawberries, raspberries (my personal bestfriend in this time), blackberries, etc. Veggie's...carrots, celery, cabbage hearts (believe it or not!), etc.

I tried to stick with the juicier things first. It helped quench my hunger and thirst at the same time. Drink plenty of OJ. I liked the high pulp bc i was also getting something with substance into my system. If you can't handle plain water, try Crystal Light, Raspberry Lemonade...or any other CL that sounds halfway decent to you. It's all about your baby but at the same time, if you don't take care of mommy, you don't take care of baby. The fruits n veggies have the added vitamins and nutrients (as I'm sure you know) your body and baby need to grow. Part of the nausia is caused by NOT eating.

Anywho...try this and let me know if it helps you. You can email me and let me know if you'd like. KendraJane1314@yahoo.com.

Love n God Bless!

emetrol is an antiemetic that is over the counter and safe during pregnancy. It does help a little. I took zofran and it is a godsend! Phenergan can make you very sleepy but the zofran should not. The patent recently ran out on zofran so it is now much more affordable. At this point drink anything you can keep down...(obviously not any alcohol) but as a nurse i have learned that i frequently need to state the obvious anyway..lol..feel better soon!

There is phenergan and zofran for nausea you can take. Check with you insurance though zofran is very expensive. When we get people in the hospital we start them on clear liquids. This can be anything you can see through in liquid state. Also start on a bland diet or a diet we call BRAT ( bananas, rice, apples and toast.) Don't eat anything spicy at this time. Also small more frequent meals help.

They gave me medication to control the morning sickness.  One was Promethazine and the other was Ornadestron.  The first one makes you a bit sleepy when you take it so it didn't work too well for me since I have a 12 month old to chase after so they switched me to the other which worked great except for it's side effect was constipation so I took a stool softner pill each time I took that pill.  Get medication, it truely helped, I suffered with both pregnancies with morning sickness morning, noon and night.  Hope this helps!

Don't start to panic.  I had the same thing happen to me with my second pregnancy.  I lost weight, I was throwing up alot and then my stomach was upset because I was so hungry.  Weight loss doesn't effect you until later in the pregnancy so don't worry about that.  My doctor told me to eat high protein food when my stomach was settled enough to eat something.  Foods like yogurt, granola, eggs etc.  Granola bars with chocolate chips saved me.  I could hold them down and they filled me up.  The up side is that your stomach will start to feel better in a few weeks.

I had the same problem with my second. I lived on fruit and toast for my first 14 weeks and lost 10lbs. The nausea pills they gave me at the dr made me even more sick. I used ginger pills for seasickness. They actually worked really well. I have also heard that the seasickness wristbands work. Good luck!

dont go to the emergency room unless you are dehydrated like its been half a day w/o urinating. Trust me you want to avoid the emergency room unless you really need to go. Or if cant keep fluids down. call into your obgyn and they can give you something to ease the gag reflex.

I was like that with my daughter who is now 5 months old. It sucks :( In the first 6 months of my pregnancy I lost almost 20 lbs. My doctor had me take half a gravol before eating to help me keep things down. It is safe as long as you only take it once in awhile. If that doesn't work you can get a perscription from any doctor.... Good Luck

Call the office and speak to the nurse practioner and explain the problem. In the meantime try to find something that doesn't turn your stomach and eat that.

If it gets too bad, go to the emergency room.
