When I got pregnant with my twins, I was 107 lbs (I'm 5 feet tall). I had mine at 34 weeks. One was 4 lbs, 13 oz. and the other was 3 lbs, 10 oz. I originally went into labor at 26 weeks, 6 days and again 2 days later. I was ultimately put on a terbutaline pump to hold off contractions.

Just anecdotal evidence is it doesn't seem to be the size of the mom that is the determining factor but how big the abdomen area was pre-pregnancy. I don't mean if the mom has a gut or not, but where in her body is her length. I am all legs and almost no torso so it was much more difficult for me to carry a pregnancy, much less a twin pregnancy when I knew people who were about the same height/weight as me with twins (and even one with triplets) who had no problems going further than I got just because they had longer torsos.

Even though my kids were on the small side, they are perfectly fine.

all my children were 9 lbs and the four pregnancies I have had..I gained, 40lbs, 30 lbs, 40 lbs and then 16 pounds with my last..no matter what I gained I always had a 9 lb baby. I think its just your genetics

I was 5'2'' about 115 before my first pregnancy as well. My daughter weighed 7lbs 2 oz. (7-8lbs is average) But I think ALOT of it has to do with genetics. So if your husband and you are both average sized, then you will have an average sized baby. :)

I was 53kg when I conceived and gained 23kg to become 76kg the time my son was born. And he was born at 42 weeks weighing 2,6kg. I don't know how it works. Ten days after my son was born I was still 72kg. But I am glad to say most of that weight i lost it within the year.

he thats is total crap I have had 2 babies one average size 7lb5oz the other smaller at 6lb4oz. I am 5ft 5 there abouts adn my friends who are a lot shorter barley five foot have had 10 and 11lb babies.. Look at ur family history it is the only way you will get any sort of idea on how big you should expect other than that ask ur ob when u see them once you start getting to 35+ weeks they will have a rough idea. hope this helps

the contractions are natural.. just getting your body ready.. as for size, ive heard that if you add the weight of you when you were born and that of you partners, then divide by two, thats the weight of the baby.. same for height.. dunno if it works though i didnt try it with mine.. hope that helps

I'm 5'5" and i uaually weigh around 105. I got up to 125 with my daughter and 120 with my son. Both of my kids were on time and my daughter was 5lb 5oz and my son was 6lb 11oz. There really is no way of predicting how big they'll be,,, Just hope that their head's not too big lol.

I am 5'5" around 130 (pre-pregnancy) so I am larger than you, but I had two babies at 9lbs 7oz and 10lbs 14oz...I think it's all relative! No need to get caught up in the weight or height! Just produce healthy babies and you can't go wrong! =)

im 5 foot and half an inch, i was 120 when i got pregnant, and my baby was 5 lbs. 15 oz. when she was born. they told me she was very small because the average baby is like 7 or 8 lbs. they put her on high calorie formula cuz they were afraid she wasnt gonna hold the weight but she only lost 2 oz. and then gained weight like crazy lol

i am 5'2" and weighed 120 pre prgnancy and my son was 7lbs 11oz 20" long. the size that YOU were yourself at birth can help tell you how big your baby will be too(ballpark)

I was the same only 120 lbs. My little man was 7lbs and 1.2 oz and 19 and 1/4 in. long! I hadn't heard that bit about people who are the same size having baby's the same size so that's new to me...

One thing that will determine how big your baby is would be how long you carry. I carried to full term and induced the day after my due date. However, another friend of mine who was due the week after me had her baby 3 days before me (so 1 week and 3 days before her due date). Her little girl was only 6lbs.

Hi I've a small frame and weigh aroun 8 stone and went up to around 10 with both babies. The first one weight 7lb 5 on the due date and the sencond weight 9lb 5 11 days over. Both babies were a normal delivery and the second one did not take as long. There was no stiches or anything. Thanks god only needed gas and air and pethidine. I weight 2lb and my husband weigh around 8-9 lbs. Good luck and all the best.

Depends on many things...I am 5'3" and was 110 with my first. I put on a HUGE amount of weight with him. He was born 21 inches long and was 7lbs 13 ounces. My second was about the same and I was MUCH better with the weight that time. With my daughter, my last, I had to have a C section, she was early and was a little over 4 pounds. Your size, your husband's, and those recessive family genes come into play. Sounds like you are worrying a bit. You will be fine and if there are problems your doctor will keep a good eye on you and your baby. Relax a bit and enjoy every moment. : ) Is this your first?? Karen



....oh yes, I lost the weight fast with the first and didn't do too bad with the next two either. Takes determination and some work to get there with successive babies! LOL : )

I liked this one. I know to well the ripping. but a good doctor will definitely help you with that. If I went to week 40 I would have had a BIG baby. He is now 4 but was 14 days early @ 7 lb 15 oz. 20 & 3/4 " long. I am 5' 1 " so, hang in there.

average babies are around 7 lbs.
for my 3 boys, i am 5 ft. 2 and was 110 pds (sigh) before i got pregnant. my first was 8 lbs 5 oz, my 2nd was 8 lbs 7 oz, and my 3rd was 9 lbs 5 oz. vaginal births for all of them.
i have a friend who is 4ft 11, and was 100lbs and her first was 6 lbs 1 oz, and her 2nd was 8 lbs 6 oz. everybody is different, every baby is different.

Think you need to take in with a grain of salt know way to ever know i had a friend in hs 52 deliver a 10 pound small big or tall they come all different shapes and sizes of course gestational babies are known to be big . i would say average is 6 pounds but more and more are bigger today! you never know even there estimate toward the end can be off mine were right on target average to small between 1 & third pretty small these days . .good luck

frist i am 4'11and was 105 lb b4 my first and my babies were 3lb and 4lb3oz and 4lb13oz. my doc seid because i was so small i would have small babies he didnt tell me i might deliver early. i did with my first he was 3lb but i delivered 2 mo early. crazy and scary. my other two were on time but not even 5lb he seid cuz i dont even weight 120lb that they all were going to b small. yes everyone is different and weight carries a big factory also. good luck! i never tore or was cut and i delivered to reg one csection due to other problems . but reg birth is easy well with a small baby.

Hard to say... as you said, every pregnancy and woman is different. I don't really think it has to do with your build either. I can tell you that I'm 5'7, weighed 115lbs before pregnancy and my our daughter was born 6 lbs 2 oz ( a little smaller) but this was probably due to the complication I had developped (intrauterine growth restriction), placenta was no longer functioning properly. its more about your insisde hips lets just say my mom was 5.3 110 or so i was her second at 81/2 pounds her birth time was 3 hrs. mine im 5.8 at 125 my first was 6.13 second 7.11 third 5.13 longest time was 6 hours so im really narrow at the hips but inside my bones open up quickly.most are fine or will have c sections i will tell you just take the ball as it comes you never know how it will turn out , my third was three in half weeks early it is what it is . but im more likely to think you will be fine genetics play a big part. best of luck to you ! its so worth it the big bundle at the end lol.lol.

all mothers and babies are different. theres no way for anyone but your doctor to really give you an accurate estimate on the baby's size. i was 5'3.5" & 115lbs pre-baby and my daughter was almost 7lbs, 19". but then i was a small baby. my old OB said it does have something to do with the parents themselves as newborns though. i never really paid any attention to that. but good luck with your new baby :)



wow. a 3 hour labor? was that her first baby? mine started at 2:30am and i didn't deliver until 9:45 that night. thankfully, with my epidural and the peaceful environment of my delivery room, i managed to sleep through about the first half of my labor. hours in, they stopped my epidural because i wasn't making any progress, but then, that was just my experience. but like i said, everyone is different.

not true i am tall and had tiny babies and my cousin is petite and had much bigger babies I think that it just all depends on the baby and how you eat I am 5'9 and my kids were 6 lbs 12 oz and 7 lbs 3 oz

I'm 5'5 and my boys were both full term and 7lb 6oz and 7lb 14oz.
It's more likely that you will have bub similar in size to you and hubby at birth, not relative to your size now. My OB also advised against sugary foods and lots of fruit as they encourage you to produce more insulin which is a natural growth hormone for bub. lots of sugar = bigger bub

wheni was 25 -26 weeks i had a bladder infection and didnt know it so i went to the er like 3 times in 1 1/2 week the contraction feel like a knott in ur stomache just a light one and also try a heating pad if it doesnt go away then it could be contraction this is what my ob told me and it worked

i am 5'1 and i weighed abt 120 i had my daughter 3 1/2 weeks early she was permie because she was born before 37 weeks she weighed 6lb 8oz health baby

im not around that weight but my daughter was 5 15.9pounds and was 19.1 in long ten day early.. but same size people do not always have same size babys. both you and daddys birth weight are more of a guildline....(im nervous for having one with my current guy he was a 12 pounder!!!(and hes trying to curse me with one...lol!!!) ask your doctor though they might beable to tell you a range that the expect for birthweight with your son.

You really don't need to know what everyone elses babies weights were at their births as it won't be any indication for you whatsoever. You can ask your doctor at ultrasounds for rough estimates closer to your due date and that will be the best thing for you. I dont agree with Sherry Hinton (sorry) about being 1/2 lb over or under the mothers birth weight - I was 6lb6oz, my son (child #1) was 7lb 15oz and 11 days early due to me having pre eclampsia, and my daughter (#2) was 9lb 5oz and 1wk overdue with no complications. Big difference in weights and not close to mine at all. Congrats and good luck everything will work out fine :)

I defenately would tell your doctor about the problems you are having may be the baby is laying in a position that is causing you problems If you dont tell the doctor how are you going to get help ?
but you must tell him all that you are feeling and suffering .So i would write down every thing so you dont forget when
you go he may suggest some exorcise that will help but donot let it pass without finding out
Best of luck and dont over do it just take it easy and plod on doing what feels comfortable if what your doing dont feel good stop doing it untill you tell the doctor.

Well, I am 5'11" and all three of mine were around 8 pounds, but I have a friend that is close to your height, and had two boys about 10 pounds each. so you really never know... Your best bet is probably to ask mothers, sisters, aunts, etc.

i am 5'7" and pre pregnancy weight for my first son was 115 and i got up to 145 3 days before i gave birth..he was 2wks early. he came in at 6.27 pounds and 19 1/2 inches.
my second son i was about the same pre pregnancy weight as before and i went up to 140 a few days before giving birth..my due date came and went, i finally had to be induced. he was born 6 pounds flat at 21 inches long. a girlfriend of mine was the same as i was when she was prego and that girl had 8 to 9 pound babies (she has four kids...2 girls and 2 boys).
I think that the "normal" weight is between the 6 - 8 pound range.

when I gave birth to my first son, I was 5'4 and 105 my son weighed 7lbs 9oz. The average baby is anywhere between 7lbs to 8 lbs. I wouldn't give it to much thought. My daughter was only 6 lbs when she was born and she is still a tiny 34lbs at 3yrs old but she is as healthy as the next child. Good luck.

nothats an old wives tail each person is different they have different births I was only 5 ft 2 my babies was roughly 7 pounds or just over each baby i had was different Look at little Lil in the rag trade she wa about 4foot but her son now goes over 6 foot

I'm 5'3 and 105 before i had my son, If it's your first they like to stay in longer and when in over time that's when they seem to like to pack on that weight, My son (who is now 7 and allmost bigger than me!) weighed 8lbs15oz and was 22and a hlf inches long! but he also stayed in an extra week. My second a girl came out 3 weeks early and was 6lbs9oz, so if she had stayed full term she would have been huge too. Baby sizes vary but if you are eating healthy and taking your prenatal vitams you should have a fat healthy baby! and it's a good thing you want a nice plump baby, and their size can have an effect on delivery, i ripped giving birth to my son which is VERY painful but if you don't do like i did and get to the hospital in time they can pervent that from happening to you! Good luck, i wish you a fat,healthy little boy!

It really dose not matter how big or little you were pre pregnancy It all depends on your health and if you carry to full term. I am 5' 5" and before i got pregnant with my first child i was 175 he was born at 8lbs 11 oz and 22 and a half inc my second was 8lbs 13oz and 20 and 1/4inc. It all has to do with your diet and your habbits and you have to take into consideration how big the father and people in his family are. If you eat well (healthy) and dont smoke or drink or do any of the stuff on the dont do while pregnant list you are more likly to have a healthy bigger baby. Aslo with each pregnancy they say that the babies tend to get bigger (weight wise). My best friends baby was 9 lbs and she was 5'1" and 108 lbs when she got pregnant. The norm is some where between 7-9 lbs for a baby these days
My mom was also very small when she had me she is 5'3" and was in a size 1 pant when she got pregnant I was born 7lbs 6oz
My dad is 6foot and every one in his family are on the tall side

so you see it all depends you will be fin just go with the flow. the doctors and nurses and midwives are there to help you. you would be amazed at what you body can do on its own if you just try and relax and let it do its thing. I am not saying dont get meds if you want/need them cuz if that is what you need to help relax for the big even then you need to do it.

Your contractions might have to do with the weather.
I have two kids, one girl and a boy.My son gave me more
false labor signs but seemed to have a strong relation to the moon
or changes in the weather. It is my experience that herbal tea,
massage from your man, and Hypno-birthing helped us. Especially the c.d., which is a guided meditation.
When my daughter was born I felt hardly any discomfort through labor. This doesn't quite answer your direct question but might give you a few ideas on how to slow down the contractions. Also give you some knowledge about hospitals for you birthing day.(My son was 9 lbs 7.9 oz but I was a 5 lbs
baby, born too early. I personally don't put much credence on what a baby should weigh.)

My daughter was born almost 3 weeks ago and I was 39 1/2 weeks pregnant when she was born. She weighed 6lbs and 14oz's. And was 18 1/4 inches long. Most likely you are having Braxton Hicks Contractions, I had a lot of those when I was about 20-30 weeks.

I have three wonderful young men. My first I gained about 50 pound's. My first weighed 7pounds 12oz.My second weighed 6pnds 2o,my third was 6pnds 11oz it really depends on the baby.My cousin had a 13pnd baby. Don't worry everything will be fine.Congrades .

Your size doesn't make a difference, a lot of small women have BIG babies. My first boy was 3.45kg (7lbs6ozsor there abouts) my second was 2.6kgs (5lbs 7ozs) I did nothing different though there was some 15 years in between pregnancies. My first was born on his due date the my second was about 18 days early, and he wouldn't have put on an extra 2-3lbs in those 18 days. Don't worry about it too much. The determining factor in delivery is really the size and shape of your pelvis with regard to the size of your baby and its' presentation (breech, etc). An average size is hard to define. You would want a healthy baby thats all
