Hey ladies,
My 8 month old daughter has just started pulling her self up and now its time to lower her crib matress, easy as that sounds I am only about 4"10 and I am worried if shes not standing I wont be able to get her out, the crib side is solid and I can not reach the bottom, I am terrified that she might climb out on the higher level but what if I cant get her out!! lol any tips or tricks are welcome.

Thanks Nicole I will be looking into that for sure!!
@ Michelle, The side of my crib is solid or I would not have an issue, I would just lower it.

If you don't want to use a step stool, do what I did--lower the side to get her out. My eldest is 21 even then the lowering mechanism was easily operated with one hand.

if you don't have a drop side sounds like your going to have to use a stool to get her out.

I am 5'1 and I can reach my son from the bottom no problem and you could always get a step stool

I'm about 5'5" and had a similar problem with our daughter at that age because I was hugely pregnant with our son and couldn't bend in to get her out. We started clapping our hands and she would stand up to be picked up.

I am 5 foot even and when my daughter was that young I had the same problem. How I was able to get her to learn that I wanted her to stand was really simple. When I would go in her room and she would be laying down I would simple ask her if she wanted UP. Motioning for her to come to me like she would if she were in a walker/walking/crawling/ and every time I went in her room I would do this. She figure out quickly that if she wanted out of her crib she had to stand up.. Hope that helps.. I never bought a step stool:)

Get a small stool and that way you can reach in and get her or lay her down without dropping her. When done with it slide it under the crib to store.

I am 5 foot even and I had the same problem. I agree with Amanda, get a stepstool. Like her, my children soon learned to stand up so they could get out of the crib...

Step stool (the ones they make for children who need a step up to the toilet are great because they got rubber on the bottom, they wont slide).

I am 5 foot 4, and I have problems getting my children out of their cribs, they learned real fast they needed to stand up if they wanted to be taken out. :0)
