3 is the perfect age to begin activities! I had my son enrolled into gymnastics at age 3. We also participated in a lot of library events that were FREE. We attempted basketball last year, but he wasn't too happy. Now at age 4, he LOVES baskbetball and is quite good. In fact, I have him enrolled in our Parks & Recs Parent/Tot programs-basketball, baseball, soccer. Someone mentioned music & dance classes, and that's even more fun for the adults too! See what your community has to offer!

Hello Amanda,
Music is a great activity (dance & rthym), if you have someone that teaches the children to have fun with it, teaches good coordination; ages starts 18months old and my grandkids loved it they are 6 & 2 now. Check your communtiy (or YWCA) center they have great programs: dance, storytime, music, art, tumbling or swimming as young as 4 months old all my children love the water. My kids (I had 5) they did dance in summer camps, drum & piano in groups, art, tumbling 3-4 than she did cheerleading 5 years, 4 of the 5 were in little league baseball 6-13 & golf at age 7-16.
Some of my children like storytime at the Library and watching & doing puppets shows for others. When they were in their teens they went to 35 countries on the missionfield in groups.
My sisters and I started dancing at 4 years old and I danced tap, ballet and jazz until 10 my sisters danced until 18 and one was a dance teacher.(she has been a school teacher for 30 years), we love to dance still. My Mom let us quit when they knew it was the right time. (I went back to speed swimming). So whatever you do with your child have fun!! Don't push too hard, but finish out each season, your start. There are many short session to try out a new sport or musical talent (they don't have to like them all)......try them out and each child is different!!! When you find a good activity for that special little one, it will give them a glow of being proud of themselves and having FUN!!
Blessings
Mona

My daughter has taken dance since she was three and she LOVES it. My 7yr old loves swimming, my 3yr old just started gymnastics, and my 21mth old will probably start swimming class soon. I think swimmingis good for all children to take for safety reasons but if your child is like my 3yr old and are terrified of the water gymnastics is a great skill and confidence builder. If she is a little princess, she will love being a ballerina.

I don't think that's early at all. Gymnastics is a good idea also. My daughter will be three in August and she loves it. I don't know where you live but if you have a Little Gym near you they have classes for that age that combine dance and gymnastics.

There's many activities for 3 year olds. All you have to do is look it up in your community. I'm sure there are play groups and stufff like that. Except if you live in Morton where there are a billion 3 year olds and you have to act fast to get them signed up or you'll lose out!LOL! They should have t ball and soccer and the labraries usually have some fun things to do. I think dancing would be good and also tumbling. There is a place in Pekin on Broidway that has that stuff. Check it out!
