After childbirth, can you get pregnant again before having your 1st real period??

Hi i just had a baby almost 4 weeks ago i started having sex 3 weeks after i had him is it possible i could be pregnant again bc he did not pull out an if i am could it harm the baby bc i didnt wait until i was healed Nd back to normal?

Yes you can get pregnant .. i am living proof.. my daughter is 3 1/2 months old and im 2 months pregnant ......... my daughter was born 4th jan 2010 'n' im due dec 2010 with this baby.....

You absolutely CAN get pregnant before the return of a period after childbirth. This is not my opinion, it is a fact. You can also get pregnant while breastfeeding. If you are having sex, and still have a uterus and ovaries, you can get pregnant.

You can get pregnant after you just have a baby. My midwife told me to be care after having a baby. But you might what to check with your doctor or your midwife. They can answer that question for you correctly.

i know a girl who went to her 6 week check up and found out she was pregnant. i actually started my pill before i got my first period and it put me right back on schedule, so you dont need to wait until you get it.

Personal experience my 2nd and 3rd child are only 11 months apart and I never got my period after having my second child so when I went back for my checkup I was already pregnant and found out because I was waiting for my period so I could start my birth control. So to answer your question yes you can get pregnant before having your period.

sorry to tell you this, but you ovulate befor your period, so it is possible to get pregnant again. Difficult but some peopl e do! Someone i knew whp had a baby the same time as me also had her second 12 months later!

Thanks guys! Just did a pregnancy test... not pregnant. but i might be a little more carefull. i want my kids close together but not quite that close, and im on medication for postnatal depression that i just found out could be harmfull to an unborn baby... Thanks for your help ;-)

NO, you can get pregnant! You dont have to be on your period to produce an egg. If you have any questions you can just call your drs. office and speak w/ a nurse!

YES you can get pregnant again right away a very close friend of mine had her baby on sept 25th 2008 and when she went back for her 6 week check-up she was 5 weeks pregnant again. unless you want to have children really close together you will protect yourself with birth control.

Yep, definately! My breastmilk dried up overnight when my son was about 2 months old and I got severe tonislitis and could barely drink (not that breast feeding is 100% birth control). As a result of that and the obvious other necessities, I had a daughter 360 days after I gave birth to my son. All before I had a real period.

Actually, you are the MOST fertile right after you've given birth! I guess it's one of those ancient survival things or something. And don't worry about not having your periods come back yet. I didn't get mine back for almost a year!

This is coming from someone who had it happen to them. I was breastfeeding and 6 weeks after having my first child I got pregnant again. Unfortunately, due to my body not having enough time to heal from the first pregnancy and stablize, I lost the baby. Most doctors also recommend that you wait at least a year before trying to conceive again because it increases your chances of miscarriage and preterm labor.

Ovulation comes before a period (i.e., you produce the egg, if the egg is not fertilised and therefore does not implant, your body purges the lining on the wall of your uterus, therefore producing your period). So you could ovulate at any time, and you wouldn't necessarily know when. So in answer to your question, you could ABSOLUTELY get pregnant.

Nope, definitely not correct. You can get pregnant anytime after giving birth, even before you have a regular period. I know of at least two of my friends that went in at their 6 week checkup only to find out they were pregnant. If you don't want to get pregnant again you really want to be using some birth control at this point.

I'm sure it's not impossible, so be careful if you don't want to have two babies a year apart! I got pregnant after one period by the time my daughter was 2 months old - that's an 11 month gap!

Hi Tasseua,

It has been a long time for me and pregnancy, but I do believe you could get pregnant before you resume your periods. I have never heard that you have to have a period first in order to produce eggs, as your period is the shedding of the lining the uterus forms to welcome a fertilized egg. I believe that an egg is produced first, then if no fertilization occurs, you get your period.

Nope. Not correct. You can ovulate before having your period again, so unless you want your babies REALLY freaking close together, you'll get yourself some birth control.
