Allergic to grain cereal?

Hi Tandi
My son spit up everything because he ate to much and to fast he was 10lbs 4oz when he was born and he grew really fast.
Check the box of cereals some have milk in them. Maybe it the milk not the cereal. They have some good ones in the health food store with no milk. I made all my own baby food. Except Apple sauce it was cheaper to buy because no one else eat in the house except me and baby.
There are two books I used for baby food

2. FIRST MEALS By: Annabel Karmel
I really like both books because both are so different and full of recipes.

I totally understand giving the tummy a break! Poor kid! She needs a few days to recouperate.
I forgot to mention we had issues with weight gain too. Our doc went a little overboard and sent us to a Dietitian and an Occupational Therapist (to test for oral aversions). Once he stopped eating rice and started with more and more veggies he started gaining weight again. He started in the 50th percentile and dropped to the 13th, but now he's holding on steady. lol cindy! my husband is saying the same thing!! he is convinced it is all jsut a coincidence! i laugh because i was frustrated with him too, and it is good to know i'm not the only one dealing with that kind of thing, but anyway no your answer was good to, and i think i will go that route, but i want to give her tummy a break for now, maybe in a few days i will try a cereal again.

My son did the exact same thing with rice cereal. He's allergic to the rice itself, which we found out the hard way because my husband insisted it was all a coincidence (I was less than impressed, but that's a different story). Luckily we haven't found anything else he is allergic to and our doc says that he will probably outgrow it. You said it's a mixed grain cereal - what grains are in it? I think the only way you'll know what exactly she's allergic to is by keeping track of what she eats and narrowing it down, if that makes sense. So if the cereal is oat, wheat and rice for example then you'll have to feed just oat one day, just rice one day and just wheat one day to find out which one it is. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you!

thank you, tara this was very helpful! i think she does have reflux b/c when she was on just breast milk i swear she spit up as much as she ate! and we have had huge issues with getting her to gain weight, she was born 8lbs, she's now 15 lbs, at 7 months!!

i feel like this should have been obvious lol *smacks forhead with palm* but now that i know i will definatley be more careful! thanks again tara!!

some babies have a real hard time digesting food period ..they have acid reflux...which seems like it may be a possibility just because u mentioned that it happend to her when she was laying down....reflux is more likely to occur when laying down........if you feed her late or close to bed...try watering her food down a bit more and dont feed her as close to bed ....try giving her a fluid instead ...see if this helps ....if it does it could be reflux........alergies are more likely to cause outward reactions ...anything you are curious about an alergy with ...put on her cheek and leave without washing area..u can wipe it off after a few mins....but if nothing appears within24 hours....the likelyness of it being an allergy is very unlikely....... I have had so many problems with both.....while your baby is going through this .......i dont know if you are sleeping her on her back .....if she is ..try to wedge her onto her side...because if she were to for some reason choke on her vomit ..it could shut her kidneys down and you could loose her.........my son had awful reflux and it took me quite a while to get it diagnosed........my other has a ton of alergies .....hopefully i could help you a bit....good luck ..if u want any more info let me know...and i will see if i have any more that might be able to help......frustrating i know
