We just found out yesterday that our 13 1/2 mo. old son is allergic to milk and wheat products. This is pretty devastating given that most of the foods he ate were dairy products! I'm at a loss of what to feed my son! He's been living off of jarred vegetables and fruit! What can I feed him to make sure he still gets the nutrients he needs?

Thanks, I read in another post that avacado is good, so I'll try that! He really likes soy milk so hopefully I won't have too many problems =( I'm just at a loss when it comes to think up dinner ideas for him, and I know he can't live on veggies and fruit forever!

I buy soy milk, soy yogurt, soy cheese (which doesn't melt well), Soy cream and on and on. Go to the Silk website and see what food they produce. As far as wheat is concerned, it's going to take a lot of label reading. Check healthy food stores. Adriane is right, Trader Joe's offers a lot items he'll be able to eat. Look for items that have rice flour instead of wheat flour. Good luck. It'll soon be a part of routine and will get less difficult.

I'm not sure about the wheat, but I know there is a rice milk you can get that's non dairy and couldn't you give him soy milk. There is also the soy yogurts that are really good. I know this is devastating, but grocery stores have come a long way and there are a lot more products out there for people like your son. I would start at Trator Joes and whole foods they would have a bigger selection. Good luck!
