I'm looking for an alternate name to be called other than the usual "grandmom, mom-mom, nannie, grandma, nana, nonnie". Does anyone have any suggestions?

My kids callled my mom Moo because I once called her that and it stuck. From then on it was all cow stuff. I go as Grandma Toodles or Toto. Find a name that is different and endearing that makes you special from all the other grandmothers.

My mother is called Maime after her grandmother and my mother-in-law is called Grams since she is a pharmacist.

My kids call their one grandma Oma, it is German. We actually researched this before my first daughter was born, because we wanted them to have different names. My mom is Grammie. I remember Nona was Italian for Gramie. Also French is Meme (Grandma) or Grandmere is grandmother. Research your culture or search online and you will tons!

Gem (or Gemmy) from the initials GM for grandma. The kids love using it and it soothes my Mother's ego! : )

Lol. Ok Don't laugh but when my son was born my mother was REALLY against being called grandma so she decided on Grammy. Only thing was my son could not say that so it came out Goggy and Goggy she has stayed. Now all the grandkids call her her that. :-) I've also heard MeMaw.

My nephew couldn't say "Grandma," so he called her Ama, and she loves it because she says she doesn't feel so old

My mother hated the idea of being Grandma or Nanna, so she decided that she wanted to be 'Marnie'. This stands for Mahoney, which means grandma in Irish.

My son came up with the name "Mong" for my mother (he heard me call her "mom" and altered it). A friend's daughter's call their grandma Ning-Na (Ning for short). I've heard of "Lovey" being used, too. Fun!

My daughter calls my mother Momo. She is 13 and the name has stuck. Every grandchild since her has used the same name when addressing my mother.

my parents are Nana and Papa...in-laws are Grandma and Grandpa. Although there have been attempts at name takeovers...my cousins daughter calls my Grandmother GG-Ma which is for Great Grandma...always thought that was cute.

With the arrival of my grandson, we've started calling my mom GG for great-grandma. I'm leaning toward Mimi for myself. He's only 3 months old so I have a little time, but I'm with you...at 44 I don't really feel like a "grandma" and am looking for another name.

My Mum is Granny, then my Dad's new wife is Grandma-Karen. I grew up with a Grandma, a Nanny, then I had a Great-Grandma, Nanny-Lynn (she was my Grandma's step-mom), and Gram-Edie (she was my Grandpa's Mom and her name was Edith).

My daughter couldnt say Grandma when she was little and said Bamma instead. It stuck. My husbands mom is now officially Bamma. Now I really like our version of great aunt and great uncle: Granty and Gruncle. LOL

My grandmother didn't want to be called "grandma" or anything of the sort, so she tried to teach my brother(the first grandchild) to call her "Marie", her middle name. (She will strike me with lightening if I utter her first name.....Garnet) :) Anyways, my brother started calling her "Amy"....and all of the subsequent grandchildren called her "Amy"...(Grandfather was "Pops"). Fast forward to my daughter, the first grandchild on my side of the family, and my mother also refused to be called "Grandma". For some reason, she tried to get my daughter to call her "Bitty" (Her name is Jane, go figure. I'm not sure of her reasoning) My daughter ended up calling her BeBe (bee-bee). And my father is Papa.
Long story short? you can guide the kids to call you something, but they'll call you what they want to, and by that time it won't really matter because they will have named you :) Congrats on becoming a mamaw!
