I'm a first time mom to be... only 7 weeks along right now and I have had an interesting start to this pregnancy... I started the morning sickness about 2 weeks ago with some flu or virus catching me last week ending in a hospital stay for 5 days... now I'm home but am just so not with energy and I just feel gaggy all the time... Any ideas???? It seems like I've tried so much already!

Thanks~ Melissa

I only had actual morning sickness with my son that lasted well into the 2nd trimester. It was bad enough that it was interrupting my day so I talked to my doctor. There are pills they can prescribe if needed. With my daughters (and my next son due March/09) I didn't/haven't really had it. I was nauseous a lot though. It was the smell of food that set me off. I started eating fruit and vegetables a lot, bread, crackers, anything with little to no smell and taste. Hopefully it doesn't last long though. Most times it doesn't. =)

The only thing that EVER worked for me was this stuff called Herbal AntiEmetic by this company called Elk Haven Herbals. I tried EVERYTHING else.

Hi, I had chronic morning sickness when I was pregnant and the only thing that helped me and got me thru was Bundaberg Ginger Beer - apparently its the way they brew the ginger beer that helps to settle the queezies, the other thing is just eat what you feel like if its a Jatz biscuit just nibble on it but stay away from anything acidy as this just doesn't mix with the bile in your stomach

I have to agree with the last post about the Zofran. I had morning/all day sickness and if I didn't take the Zofran I couldn't keep anything down. I had to take it right up until the day I delivered.

A friend of mine used the prescription drug Zofran...it worked for her really well. She also had the morning sickness that lasted all day.

I had morning sickness when I was pregnant with both my girls! It started in the 1st trimester and returned for the 3rd. I also was often in the hospital always getting fluids. I found that eating sour candies helped settle my stomach somewhat. Don't think anything takes it away 100% though. Speak with your doctor they do have a medication that is safe it's called Zofran. Best of luck I feel for you!

I'm going through the same thing...I keep a HUGE amount of peppermint candies and suckers with me all the time. I found those help. And when you get up from bed do it as SLOWLY as possible. I have to get up and sit on the edge of the bed for a min. or two before I can actually get up.

keep something in your stomach (i know that sounds hard) like saltine crackers. it does help.

My OB gave me Vitamin B lolly pops (she gave me samples so they have a cherry flavor lolly & a green apple sucker - cherry is better...) that I actually think work.

I had minimal sickness with my first but this one (i'm 9 wks) I have it all day! Ask about them.

Hope you feel better soon! Makes you much more tired than you normally would be the 1st Trimester.

I would try to snack on things like saltines and flavored water or sprite. The things that you would eat when you are getting over a stomach bug and see if that helps. Also follow your cravings. If you just have to have something (say bananas) your body may need the potassium or other vitamin or minaral that in in that food.

Ginger and Sea Bands will help.. My Dr said to eat small meals all day long and never let yourself get really hungry. That will keep you from eating more than your system can handle. He also said to stick with mild foods that wont give you heart burn (which can lead to you getting sick).

Of course consult your doc but a combo of Vitamin B6 and Regular Strength Unisom cured my m/s with my 1st pregnancy. Nothing helped this time but Ginger Chews and Sea Bands may help.
