Chloe had a culture done on a urine sample the other day and the results came back positive for a UTI. Dr. wants to run some additional tests to make sure there isnt any abnormalities causing the UTI. I would just like to know if any moms out there have had to deal with this with their young daughters and the outcome? Thank You!

My daughter was 6 months old when she got her first UTI, and after a VCUG (voiding cyto-urethrogram) she ended up having kidney reflux, and was on preventative antibiotics until she was about 3 years old. The test is a pain, especially once they get older and start developing bladder control, but the condition is ofter grown out of as they get older. The underlying cause is often that the ureter (the tube between the bladder and the kidneys) is too short, and results in backwash into the kidneys and UTIs.
Another possibility is what my mother-in-law has, which is a floating kidney, which can be determined by an ultrasounds.
