My hubby says his prison doesn't look like the TV. Maybe some of the bigger and older ones do.

oh my soul - sounds scary. my husband works nightshift so he does not have that much contact with the prisoners. they just upgraded the prison where he works to a maximum facility so the risks are much greater than they were when it was a medium facility. do the prisons over in america and elsewhere look the same as they do on the movies? my husband says ours dont look like that. i was just wondering if it is an idea of how they work over there.

I have tremendous respect for my husband and any other person who can work in these prisons. My husband is locked in shoulder to shoulder with 21 inmates in a housing unit. No other officer with him and no weapons on him. Like I said, it's about every other week, one of them gets hurt. The last one was stabbed 5 times in the back and head with a shank. They don't get paid enough for the risk that they take. But again, I couldn't do it. I just don't have that kind of courage.

My husband is a Deputy and is currently working at PITCHES detention center in Southern California.  He works with max security short-timers and yes it is very scary but at the same time I am proud of his contribution to society.  Sometimes I feel as if I am being selfish for wanting him home and "safe" but I realize that he is working towards a greater good.  I get scared when he is 5 minutes late coming home or when the phone rings in the middle of the night even when he gets home early I think something happened in a way.  I try to take things day by day, pray hard and trust my husbands instincts and physical ability but I will never get used to the unsettled feeling in the pit of my stomach everytime he leaves for work.  So yes, I completely understand where you are coming from.

Yeah, mine works at a federal pen. No offense to cops, I've worked with many as a 911 dispatcher, but we have officers down at least every other week due to inmate attacks. It scares me for him, but I can't imagine myself working there.
