Anyone else have a child who gets hives after they have had a virus? My daughter is almost 2 and this is the 2nd time she got them in the past month.

everytime i get a virus i get a rash too. i asked my dr about it and he'd never heard of this! looked at me like i had two heads actually. ever since i can remember it's been happening. but i don't think it's hurting me any...just gets a little itchy at times. no matter what kind of virus it is, cold or stomach bug i get one. it goes away after a day or so. check with your dr anyway but i think she's fine. our bodies have different ways of fighting infections and i just think this is my body's way. i wish you luck.

I'm a nurse and used to work at a Pediatric Clinic, and it is very common for kids to get a rash after a virus.  Adults can get them too.  Although they can be annoying, they don't last very long.

Has your child had Rosiola yet? Its a form of chicken pox, but without the chicken pox. It can have cold-like symptoms with a moderately high fever that lasts for a few days then all of a sudden fevers gone and hives pop up. My son had numerous times as a toddler. Its re-occurring since the chicken pox vaccination. Only your doctor can diagnose it though. If it is bothering her a lot you should have it checked out by your pediatrician.
