Anyone use Progesterone as a means to stay pregnant or not miscarry?

I am looking for all information just anyone that has used this method as a way of having another baby.

My husband and I are having NO luck; we can get pregnant, we just don't stay pregnant. Doctor is recommending this as next option, we have done all the tests, we are ok physically and have one son, but want one more child if possible. Thanks!

take a look at www.progesterone.co.uk where you can get a truly natural progesterone cream which is applied to the skin. There are no side effects and it is good for menopause and PCOS as well as helping retain pregnancy. Progesterone is absorbed much better this way than with suppositories.

When I was trying to get pregnant with my first child, after my first miscarriage the doctors put me on progesterone to hold the pregnancy. I also was put on it during my second pregnancy as well, which was with twins. For both, I remained on it until the end of the first trimeter. I know quite a few people who were put on it to sustain the pregnancy. Good luck!

Was advised progesterone after mild spotting in my 2nd month of pregnancy and was also advised complete bed rest till completion of 3rd month. Didnt have any side effects. Have a 2.5 mths old daughter now. :)

Absolutely! I was pregnant with my third daughter when the Dr. told me I needed Progesterone or I would lose the baby. At first I was unsure I wanted to take it because I felt that even though it's painful sometimes miscarriage is a natural thing. He told me that the lack of Progesterone was something wrong with me and not the baby. The medication is the same or very similar to what your own body produces and left the choice up to me. I took it for three months, had my blood tested regularly, and now have a beautiful 8 year old. I have had a subsquent unexpected pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. I think it was caused because I didn't realize I was pregnant right away (I had some other health issues going on) and was probably lacking a high enough level of Progesterone. Be aware that any medication may have side effects, the worst thing Progesterone did was make me sleepy, so I just took it before bed.

Good luck to you!

Like the other women who replied, I also had success with progesterone after 3 m/c. I began using the suppositories twice a day starting from 4.5 weeks pregnant, all the way through 13 weeks. A word of warning: the progesterone can make you feel like you are leaking. I went through boxes of pantyliners the entire first trimester. But the end result is my healthy beautiful 4 1/2 year old son.

Yes I had both of my children successfully after 5 miscarriages by using this drug combination: 1 progesterone suppository morning and night, 1 baby aspirin daily and one injuection of heprin (blood thinner) morning and night. It works. You must self inject or get your spouse to do it because it's two times a day. They are insulin needles so they are tiny and it's not so bad. The worst part is the brusing but it goes away after a few months. Take care and good luck.

I too, used progesterone for both of my pregnancies. My beautiful daughter is seven years old and my adorable son is 4 years old. I used the progesterone suppositories (twice a day, am and pm). I can't think, of any side effects other than bloating..but hey, we are going to get huge when we get prego and that's the result you want :) I believe, its a pretty safe method to get prego and retain your preganancy.....it doesn't hurt to give it a try!! Goodluck to you all!!

Good luck with the decision. It was the best one for me.

Quoting Abbie:

We are planning it. We have one son who we made on "our own" LOL. But since then I have miscarried twice. I have a history of it. I have no problem using it I just wanted to know what others had done, if they had side effects or anything like that.

I also seem to m/c carry between 5-9 weeks, 9 being the usual one. Thanks ladies :)

From all the other posts I've read it seems that Progesterone is the way to go....I've learned something.  Thanks for posting and good luck.

I have 3 georgous kids thanks to this. I miscarried my first and was losing my second when my Ob did a simple blood test to check my levels (v.low) so I started on them and had a lovely son who is now 5. I used the progesterone in my next 2 preg also as blood tests showed low prog after 6 weeks gestation. Seems my body can't produce enough to keep the pregancy from 6-11 or 12 weeks once the placenta takes over. My kids are all heathy and happy too, so feel free to use it.

I used progesterone with my current pg! I had 2 miscarriages and started right away this pg with progesterone. I used it 2x day (pill form used as a suppository) for the first 12 weeks. I am 24 weeks now and everything is going well. GL!
