Mine arent that close with a almost 3 year gap and i think do what works for you. my son was just done potty training when my daughter was born which was 2 months before he was 3 so i only had one set of diapers but if you dont mind 2 sets of diapers then go for it. its good that you have support and both of you want the next one while havig a 9 month old. good luck ad have fun

yup...and they were right ;P two sets of diapers, breastfeeding a newborn while the other learns to climb, potty training one while changing the other's diapers...good times...

It's nice now though, they are playmates for each other and are very close :)

Well, you can make all the plans you want, but mother nature will have the final say. It will be what it will be, it will work out as it is meant to, and your kids will be spaced the perfect amount of time for them.

You aren't crazy! As long as both of you are excited about having a 2nd one so close in age, things will be fine! Yes, it will be tiresome, and there may be moments that you question why you ever thought of having 2 kids so close in age, but those moments will be pushed aside with the happy, smiling, moments :-D Enjoy parenthood!

We only had a 14 mth gap between our first and second and everyone thought we were nuts too. We wanted our kids close in age so that they would have the best chance of being friends.

If you had no problems with your first pregnancy and birth and are coping with your first baby you shouldn't have a problem.

Positives:
First baby is still having naps so you can have a nap in the day at the end of your pregnancy and when you are getting broken sleep from the second. When the baby starts sleeping through the first is still having naps so if you make sure that they nap at the same time you get a couple of 'child free' hours in the afternoon!!!

The first baby is too little to feel jealous so you don't go through the jealous, clingy phase a lot of first kids go through when a second is born.

As soon as the second is old enough to play with the first they amuse themselves and play together rather than demanding attention from you so you can get things done when necessary.

They become close friends, ours have.

You are doing nappies for one so you don't really notice the second.

Negatives
Don't expect much 'me' time in the first few years!

If the first is late to start walking having two babies to carry around.

Good luck, I think having children close is great. It worked for us, I wouldn't have it any other way.

We have 5 kids. Our first two are 2 years apart, then a 5 year gap, and our last 3 are 7 weeks apart (total). I'd never recommend 3 at a time. We're just now, at 3 years old, starting to get enough sleep to function at a minimal capacity. It would be different if there were at least a 9 month gap between each, but there isn't. With having one and planning another, not so bad at all! Good luck!

My kids are 5 yrs apart and I'm tired! I waited a while, I was 30 and 35 when my girls were born. It might be easier to get all the "baby stuff" diapers, bottles, ect all done within a couple years. I sometimes wonder if I should have had mine closer together. Do what is right for you. Good luck!!
