Are there any moms out there that are dealing with children and food allergies? Our 4 yr. old daughter is allergic to dairy, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shell fish.

I am looking for someone who is dealing with the same issues that I am. Support I guess.

I was told by the dietision to make our bread in a bread maker.  Every recipe I have found calls for dry milk.  Has anyone heard of a replacement for that?  I don't cook or bake to often.  I am trying to do it more often, but with my husband and oldest son being very picky, it makes it very frustrating.  I have heard of in place of eggs use a over ripe banana, mashed for each egg.   And we found that some Betty Crocker cake mixes she can do.  We add a 12 oz. can of diet sprite and mix with beaters and bake(not in glass pan).

I have to buy our bread at a health food store due to the allergies by daughter has.  I know that for the egg replacement that you can add 3 tsp water and 1 tsp corn starch mixed together and add it at the end of mixing everything else together.  Bob's Red Mill mixes are really good!  They are mostly allergy free depending on what you are getting.  I can now make choc chip cookies and brownies with those mixes.  I have tried the cake thing for my 5 year old but the 7 year old cannot have the wheat still.  Vegan brand snickerdoodle cookies from a health food store are good too.  A website to google is Food Allergy and Anaphilaxis network.  Recipes and info on that site can be printed and used too.

My son has peanut, egg and milk allergies.  It is hard.  I have fish and shellfish allergies.  My allergies have been easy to deal with most of my life.  They aren't nearly as challenging to cope with as my son's.  It is hard and extremely frustrating.  Jake is only 17 months and he is a super picky eater.  Several times I have sat in tears trying to find something I can get him to eat.  It is hard enough without having SO many things eliminated.  I would love to know a good bread machine recipe without milk, too

I have a six month old girl with dairy, gluten, soy and the plumb family (cherry, almond, abricot...) allergies and as we are breastfeeding and just starting solid food, we are all in the same elimination diet. Lot of cooking !

Yes, my sons allergies are nuts (all), gluten, eggs, dogs and seasonal. The biggest thing that helped us was realizing that with a low immune system resulting in allergies, he was also reacting to toxins in our home. Once we got rid of those his skin rashes, open soars, behavior issues, and sleep all got 100% better! now we can deal with the food allergies and be healthy as well!!

I just want to add my support, I think so many people are dealing with allergy symptoms and not realizing what is going on, so I am glad that you at least know. I understand that it is difficult to deal with. I also want to say to someone out there that sometimes a elimination diet can help you to understand what allergies you have as my sensitivities and allergies were odd ones that were difficult to diagnose.

Yes, we are waiting on the results from the new allergist (I didn't like my son's old one - she didn't do much). As of right now though, he's tested positive for: milk, soy, peanuts, cashews & walnuts as well as environmental allergies & he's got horrible eczema. The new guy is repeating all the tests as well as running new ones. Avoiding foods is insane b/c almost everything is tainted. My son is now 2 years old & we've been dealing with most of the allergies since we finally got to see a specialist in May. Milk was diagnosed at 6 mos. I feel your pain.

YES!!!  My 7 year old daughter has had allergies to milk, soy, wheat, peanut, eggs and shellfish since she was 4 months old.  I just want to say that I understand most all frustrations dealing with this.  My 5 year old is allergic to milk, peanut and eggs as well.  Contact me and we can chat.
