The replies are very interesting regarding this topic! A few years ago, I went in for an ultrasound around the same time and they said there was a sac but no baby. They told me I wasn't pregnant. My body acted like I was. I got cravings, was tired, emotional, etc. When I was supposedly around 16 weeks I miscarried and had a D&C. Apparently, the baby wasn't 16 weeks? They never gave me much info on that....

Same thing happened to me with my second daughter....they even went so far as to say that i needed to schedule a d n c cuz there was no baby and i was gonna miscarry. i refused. my baby is 5 now. it was just to early. they were guessing with the dates i gave them. it is not an exact science. be patient. it will work out !

good luck. keep us posted!

Hi,
I went through something similar about two months or so ago... I was 6 weeks pregnant, and started bleeding. I went to the hospital, they did the V-Ultrasound and there was no baby, only a sac. So, I had miscarried.... they told me that they felt the baby was growing in the wrong place and that's why they couldn't find it. I was sad, but obviously relieved at not having to go through a possible Ectopic Pregnancy.

My hormones were like yours and it took over a month and tonnes of blood tests for them to go down!
I really hope it is just too tiny to see... but the V-Ultrasound is pretty accurate... Good Luck ...

My friend had this same problem. Her doctor told her it's called a missed miscarriage. The egg gets fertilized and implants but something is usually wrong so the embryo is absorbed by your body. They saw the empty sac at her first ultrasound. They waited a week, but her body didn't let go of the pregnancy so she had to have a D&C. It was very sad, but she got pregnant again about 5 weeks later and now has a beautiful baby boy. Maybe like the other moms said, you're not as far along as you think. Hope everything works out for you.

Ok here is the update, on tursday my HCG levels were at 3000 today my blood levels are at 3900. Around noon I started spotting. There are tons of small blood clots. So It looks like once agian we have misscaried. I think its something wrong with me. I allready have a beautiful HEALTHY toddler boy. I guess it just not the right time either. There is some ease. The doctor told me that my sac measured at 14 weeks. the baby is not growing anywhere!! Thier's just simply no baby. Thank you all for your encouraging words.

Thank you all for the encouraging words. I have read around 60 stories of women that this has happened to and the bay was just to small to see yet. The doctor told me that there is a very small chance that the baby is just to small to see. He never measured the sack, at least that I know of. Anyways, I will post what happened with my blood tests later today.

Good luck. Yah if your hormones are at 3000 you're probably not as far along as you think you are. Just give it some time. I'll be praying that everything is okay for you!

If you really are 7 weeks, then you should be able to see what they call a "fetal pole" and a heartbeat. But maybe you aren't as far as you thought? What did your Dr say? I did have a miscarriage like this - we were sure of my dates, and the baby had just died and stopped growing early on (like 5-6 weeks) and the sac had kept growing. They can measure the gestational sac and get an idea of how far along you are. My sac measured 8 weeks, I was supposed to be 9, and the only thickening they could assume might have been the baby measured 6 at the most - I had to have a d/c. But then I have another friend this happened to who went back a week later to find a fetal pole with a good heartbeat - her dates were just wrong.

Good luck!

I had that at 7 weeks. My doctor told me it was too early to see her. Sure enough, the next time I went in, there was my peanut! :)

If your hormone level is at 3,000 then that would put you at about 4 1/2 weeks pregnant. You might not be as far along as you think. I had the same thing happen to me. If were 7 weeks along your hormones would be around 50,000 to 60,000. Good luck and keep your chin up, the same thing happened to me and everything turned out fine, I'm sure it will be for you to

Hi Mikayl. I did google it and didn't find any medical websites but TONS of moms asking the very same question. They all seem to say it may be too early to tell. If you're comfortable with it, maybe goole it and see what other moms have to say?

I have heard of this before. It's actually more common than you would think. It is possible the baby is just too small to see now. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat. But perhaps you're not as far as you think, so just see how things go. I know it's confusing. If you need any support after your loss/losses there is a forum on here called: Motherhood after the loss of a child.

I don't know anything to help but wanted to give and hope everything is fine. Could be just too small, 7 weeks isn't very far along.
