I don't agree with piecing babies ears, and don't think that them not recalling the pain is a very good reason to have it done at a young age. If you agree with piercing a baby ears then what about a nose, eyebrow, belly-button, lip or upper-ear piercing? Alot of people choose to have such piercings these days. I don't think many people who wish to have their infants ears pierced would likewise want any of these piercings, but then what is the difference? I think many people want pretty little girls or 'cool' looking little boys, and this is why they choose to have it done. I also don't agree that the majority of girls want ear-rings anyway. It sounds like the majority who have ear-rings have had it done at such a young age that they never got to form the opinion.
Personally I don't believe in pre-empting our children's future choices and I think piercing a baby's ear is teetering on the edge of abuse, especially if done with a gun opposed to a needle.

Culture plays a huge roll I sm half Portuguese her father is Hispanic both it is Culture to pierce a baby girls ears! At age 4 she had to have an emergency CT they removed them, and she refused to let me put them back in. that was it she is 8 and is terrified! Some comment it looks ridiculous open your minds to different cultures!

Unless it's a vital medical procedure, nothing sould be done to a child's body. It's their body to do with as they will. I didn't slice the flesh of my boys' penis' when they were born, I wouldn't shoot metal through a girls ears. I have numerous piercings and tattoos myself and realise the significance and permanence things like these have. They are a personal decision made by the person who owns the body. I do not 'own' my children.

I would never pierce my childs ears without her permission, which she certainly can't give at this age! If anything she'll have to wait longer than she wants to. I wouldn't pierce an adult against their will, so why would I do it to my child?

u can't make the decision to put holes in ur childs ears for them! they may not want to have pierced ears, they may pull on the in their sleep and rip them out and above all its cruel! if they don't want pierced ears and u do it neway u r leaving them with an unnessessary scar because of you

i used to pierce ears and am currently going to school for medical assisting and you shouldn't take a baby to get her ears pierced until she has had atleast 2 tetanus shots. which is around 3 or 4 months. and it's best to get it done before she is 1 because when she gets older she'll probably want them pierced anyway and if she doesn't you can always take them out and let the close up.
