We just did a small family get together; grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Maybe 10-15 people.

For my son we did an In The Night Garden themed party.
For my daughter we did a Picnic themed party (think ants, red checked cloth, ladybugs, etc.)

For both we did a lunchtime thing with food and friends and family. We didn't plan any games as 1 is a bit young for them. Pretty much the kidlets just ran around and played after lunch, then a break for gifts and another break for cake. We kept it short (about 2 hours).
