baby acne

I know this is an old thread, but I can't imagine why a parent would opt for steroids and adult soap rather than deal with a bit of baby acne and flaky skin!!! This is a newborn baby - it's been in YOUR body for it's entire existance and has relied on what you put in your body that entire time.. of course there are going to be toxins working their way through his/her body! And how bothersome were these issues that such harsh measures were necessary? Were they really bothering baby so much? Or was it an aesthetic issue for Mommy and Daddy?
Poor babies.. this breaks my heart. Honestly, doctors everywhere should be ashamed, prescribing these sorts of things!!

I'm the type of mom that if it's not harming my son just let it be and let nature takes it course. My son's acne started when he was just 1-2 weeks old -- all over the right side of his face and scalp, some of it would even look like white heads -- ready to pop!! His doctor told me just to wash his face once or twice a day with a wet cloth. It went away after three weeks and hasn't been back.

Hi - My son had baby acne around 3-4 week and nothing seemed to work. Seemed like there were 40-50 one day and then hundres and each day it would double, then went to his scalp. Went to the doctor and they gave me steriod cream and they went away immediatley. Not sure you want to put soap on a baby.. One of my boys had a cradel cap and also crazy remedy but my doctor told me head and shoulders and it worked!

Hi, both of my babies had baby acne at around 4-5 weeks. It lasted for about a couple of weeks or so. I would clean their faces gently with a wet wash clothe and a little drop of unscented baby lotion. I don't know if it made it go away, but it seemed to help. For the scalp, before his bath, put a little baby oil, gently comb, then wash.

My son was born with baby acne and continued to have it for quite some time. I just made sure I was his face well, I used Aveno baby soap, I found the Johnson and Johnson made it worse. Also for the flaky scalp, my son had a bried bout with it. Once out of the bath tub, I put a small amout of baby oil and let it sit about 15 minutes and then gently brushed it out. It was cleared up in no time. My friend said that she used to put oil on her baby's head at night and put a cap on, but I didn't find any relief from this.

Hi, all three of my children had baby acne around week 4. It was so frustrating b/c here I had a beautiful newborn and then they get this awful acne! I used a very gentle soap and water to wash twice a day and it was gone by 8 weeks. (I can't remember exactly how long for each child, but I remember it was a good 4 weeks with the acne.

My three also had a flaky scalp too, I used a loofa? and gently scrubbed the head during bath time. My 9 month old has a little flaky scalp, but i haven't scrubbed it lately b/c I don't have time with a 2 and 3 year old in the bath too.
