I want to make healthy, homemade, baby food for my 6 month old. She is advanced in her eating so she eats like an 8-9 month old. Anyone have any good recipes to share?

The Super Baby Food book is a great resource...The ice cube tray method is pretty easy and the book outlines when to introduce new foods and has recipes/directions for prepping them. Good luck!

Sweet potatoes are the best convenience food ever. I poke them and put them in the microwave & hit baked potato. Then I split it with the baby, digging spoonfuls out with the baby food. It's chewy enough to be interesting for him, tasty, and full of nutrients. I highly recommend.

Let her eat what you eat - get a Happy Baby Food Grinder, or something similar and have at it. It is so simple... when you dish up put a few tablespoons of the same food in the grinder and she eats happily a part of the family - and knows it!

I steam and puree all of the fruits and vegtables then freeze them in an ice cube tray. then when I go to feed my son I just pick out what ever fruits or veggies go together, and mix them up. That way you can change it around from day to day. works great and he loves it. making home made baby food is so easy and he loves it!

I have tons, actually. I have an awesome cook book to make all your own foods.
Papaya and cottage cheese puree
Cut a small, ripe papaya in half, remove the black seeds, and puree or mash the flesh of one half with 1 tbsp of sieved cottage cheese or greek yogurt.
Avocado and banana puree
Mash a quarter of a small avocado together with half a small, ripe banana and 1-2 tbsp of breast milk or formula.
Honestly, go look for the book called First Meals by Annabel Karmel. It's awesome!

Starting at 6 months I would steam veggies like carrots, green beans, squash, peas, zucchini, spinach and egg plant and I would puree them for our son. I would also puree fruits like mangos, apples, peaches, watermelon, plums, grapes and kiwi. Then at 8 months we added meats like lean cuts of pork, chicken, turkey and beef which we would cube into small bite size pieces. By this age he was able to eat foods that no longer needed to be pureed. Now he pretty much eats what we eat. My husband and I eat healthy foods which makes including our son easy: I hope this is helpful. Good luck :)

One AWESOME summer recipe that we love is mashed bananas mixed and mashed avacodo! It's super easy to do in the summer and we used it on the go alot too (when we don't have access to a grinder!)
Another one my son loves is homemade apple sauce. I usually core, cute and peel about 5 apples (so I can freeze some too) and put them in a roasting pan with a cup of water in the bottom. (I have started sprinkling a bit of cinnimon on them too) put them in the oven until soft. Mash or put through a grinder to puree dependng on how she likes it.
I use: "The Hospital for Sick Childrens: Better Baby Food: Your Essential Guide to Nutrition, Feeding and Cooking for All Babies and Toddlers" as a reference, they have great (and neat!) recipes all catagorized by age!
Good Luck!

I don't have any actual recipes but with my girls I steamed veggies and ran it through the food processor. I put fruit in there too. When they got to be about 9 months I would put whatever we were having in the processor. I never bought a jar of baby food and they loved everything! There is a really good book called Super Baby Food. It has tons of information on feeding little ones.
