Baby food to solid food...Help!

My son has been on baby food for along time now, he gets the idea of how to chew. But he gets so mad because he has no teeth and he has no intrest to feed himself. What do I do?

It's not that he doesnt no how to pick things up its tnot knowing how to put the food thats enclosed in his hand into his mouth. Are babies capable to eating solid food when they dont have any teeth? I mean he has one that just popped through but its so small..

What are some foods that he could possibly eat?

No no,, I wasn't worried about him being able to use a spoon. Not at all. Just he has not much intrest in picking foods up and putting them in his mouth.

My daughter 10 months and starting eat mainly table food at couple weeks ago. She was eat some table food that was easier to mush up at 8 months. She love's sweet potatoes mushed up, mash potato's, yogurt. I personally don't think I would give a 6 1/2 month old any thing beside what you are. With that said if your going to to do it make sure it food you can mush up. Make sure you make the bite small enough he can't choke on it. Plus as said they will feed them self when there ready but most baby start feeding them selves with food they can pick up with there fingers, then move on to the spoon. If I gave my 10 month old food a bowl of food she be wearing it she also rather stick the wrong in of the spoon in her mouth. Most baby's can do this to a point at a year. I don't think a 6 month old have the skills enough to put feed them selves with a spoon. I think that would be asking a lot.

babies after the age of 6 months( my son was 5 months) should eat soft to soild food over the next 6 months by 1 year they should be able to eat the food u are eating,no different.
chewing help their face muscles to be come strong, better speech.

Reason I didnt say his age is cause alot of moms freak out when I explain when I started him on solid food.

My son started to finish a 900g tin of formula every week. So at 3 months I started him on pablum, now he is 6 1/2 months old eating the 8-12 month stage of baby food in a jar. And so far he really enjoys it, has no problem with the chunks and when he does I just mash it a little. I just am not sure when a good time would be to move him to chewable food. Like if I were to give him a spoon and a bowl of pablum or baby fruit he covers himself.. I think it is the feeling and the work he has to do to pick stuff up and out it in his mouth that makes him so mad.

Yes they are capable they gum it. Just like any other baby start out slow and softer the better to what he can or can not handle. My son didn't have any teeth till 13 months and a 10 months he was eating solid food snacks and table food.. If he has no interest in feed him self then you feed him, it will not hurt him and he will get it in his own time.



I always start with stuff like pasta that slide down a lot easier. Puffs were always a could snack to start them on. I don't think you said how old your son was it easier to give suggest with age.
