I have an 18 month old girl named Madison Leigh.

I am expecting another girl in December and my husband and I just can't agree on a name. I like unique names and he's more of a simple name guy. We didn't have this problem naming my first daughter. Does anyone have any name suggestions?

I have a few thoughts on girls' names, having had three myself! My daughters' names are Nicole (Nicky) Elizabeth, Amy Joan and Bethne Kate. The girls' first names are names we just liked and their second names are connected to various family members. Bethne (pronounced Beth-nee, and usually shortened to Beth) is probably a variation of Bethany.

My daughter Nicky also has three daughters - Isla Rosaline (2 yrs old) and newborn twins, Cully Miranda and Romy Valentine. The girls' first names are all vaguely Celtic, and their second names are all from Shakespeare. I think the 2-syllable first name and the 3-syllable second ring has a nice lilt about it.

A few thoughts, anyway!

Our youngest daughter is Anneliese Christine, and we just call her Anna or AnnaChris. I don't hear many girls named Anneliese. Hope this helps!

My 20 month old is named Emmalee (like the regular Emily) Faith. We wanted something not off the wall but unique as well with options since certain names seem to fit personalities and didn't know who she would grow to be. I liked the name Emily and Emma, my mother's middle name was Lee so this worked great. We call her Emme because that seems to work with her personality. If she was really girly we may have called her Emma.

I also like the name Trinity for a girl, though I don't know that it leaves as many nickname options.

My 2 year olds name is Marisa Taylor (can also be spelled Marissa). My 3 month old is names Leah Kate (my mother-in-law picked her middle name). I thought Marisa was a little different without going overboard. Hope this help.

I love the name Marisa, so soft and pretty.  I had two girls names picked out and each time I got a healthy baby boy and I do feel blessed.  Their named are Donathon, Maxton and Quinian.  We never got to use Gwennifer or Emberly.  Leah Kate is also pretty simple and classy.

i personally think prayer is inportant. and not deciding till you see them. by sister took two of her home nameless because they did not fit the mane they picked out they went home milne. that is their last name. my kids both have a first name i picked out and a middle my husband picked. court has two middle names lydia klay. lydia was going to be her name but i go to a small church and 3mos be for i menchened that name and the pastor wife named her daughtor that. boy was i mad! i was calling court that from three months prago. so we x'ed that out and did not have a middle name. in the hospital while waiting for the baby book my husband was laying nexted to me and i started saying words like how bout tire or treejust some silly thing s and out popped clay and he said how about with a k. when my sis herd we were going to name her courtney klay she she made fun. and so her and the teens from the church voted to add lydia in between and then she was named courtney lydia klay irwin it is very special. angel

My daughters name is Lacey Violette, we get nice comments about it all the time. My cousins daughters are Alanya and Emelyn, she made them up from other names she liked but were too common for her. Goodluck, I know how frustrating it can be when your husband doesn't like your names but doesn't have any good suggestions.

When my husband and I were trying to pick out a girls name, just in case our son was a girl, we couldn't decide on a name either so what we did was pick from names that were from one of our family's heritages. We picked an Italian name because my husbands grandma is full blooded Italian. We picked Isabella. But we ended up having a boy. :)

To me the most important thing about a name is that it grows with the person. They are not babies long and it is hard being a woman with a childish little girls name. Also consider the fact that teachers tend to pronounce a kids name the way it is spelled and that can cause a lot of teasing if your child has an unusual name.

I have always liked to make sure that the name given to a child is something nice for when they are a child and then an adult. I took that into consideration when I named my daughter Sabrina. Cute sounding, very feminine, yet for her grown up years classic. Like the Audrey Hepburn film.

We named out daughter Lillian Josephine. Lilly's are my favorite flower and husband thought of it and the middle name was my great grandmother's who was half Apache. It was very fitting and tied both things we loved and family. Ask about older family names, some were quite unique!

My daughter's name is Devri Monique. It is not your everyday name, but it is pretty. I think finding a name that has a great meaning. My family has always thought my kids names are a little different, but what matters it what the parents think. My son's middle name is Addison which is a unisex name. I am sure you and your husband will find the perfect name. Good Luck!!!

I liked the names Kendall, Riley, Payton, and Reagan when I was expecting with my 3 year old daughter Aubrey Madison... We put the names in a bowl and Aubrey won.... Good Luck.. :)

how about Mariah, or Maliah, Rya; you could stick with places and name her Sierra or Savannah, McKinley.........Girl names are tough, they tend to be more trendy than boy names. Personally I stay away from anything on the top 25 list.

Hi, I had the same problem with naming my son. We looked in the phone book to search for names. Our daughters name is Morgan Breanna and our sons name is Mason Christopher. If you want to go with an M thing Morgan and Mason could be used for either a girl or a boy. I also love the names Sydney and Parker . I hope this is helpful for you. Jane mammajane.etsy.com

My son's name is Isaac Alexander, named after each of our great-grandfathers... Even though the first name is a biblical one, it has been misspelled from birth on to age 16, even by relatives! Ridiculous, isn't it?

I'm past the idea of having more children, but have always thought my next child would be named Elleina (Elle for short) Gabrielle for a girl or Adrienne Andrew for a boy... To me, both names could fit any personality from artist to doctor...

Good luck! There are so many exciting possibilities for what to call your precious little one, but I 'm certain whatever name you choose WILL grow on your husband! ;o)

I love the name Trista....if I had a boy I would've named him Tristan.....but I have two girls and we named them Jenna Lauren and Rachel Morgan. Almost named my oldest Rachel but loved Jenna w/Lauren. When I found out Rachel was a girl there was no way anyone could talk me out of Rachel. I do like Rachel Lauren, too...but didn't want them to share a name. Good Luck!

I really like unsual names as well...my son's name is Devan (pronounced like Devin). I had never heard that name before naming him but now I hear it as a boy or girl name. When I was pregnant with my daughter I wanted to name her Kristen Belle but my husband hated it so we agreed on Reese DeAnn.

Good Luck!! Just make sure you pick a name that will not be mispronounced or misspelled alot. My name is Gerrie and I don't think there is another spelling like that anywhere!!

something long but that can be shortened to a simper name like lillianna ( lily for short ) then you get your more unique name and he gets a simple name all in one.
