Yes that happened to my son when he was 16 months!!  It was vry scary since we were in the car.  He wasn't even sick before so it was a complete surprise when the dr told me because of a spike in temp.  But it was very comforting to hear that it is fairly common.  ut of course for the next few days when i was driving around i was looking at him more than the road.

I am going throu this now with my daughter but they cant tell me whats worng with her...She doesnt have a temp but has seizures..She has only had 4 in the last week but i still have no answers...All her test have come back clear....Its stressfull....

My 3 1/2 year old son has had this happen 3 times. I know that you feel helpless, but you aren't. Do some reading on this. I found several things on the net about it and how to prevent a repeat. Motrin is the best and you should give it at the first sign of fever. momworld.com is great!!!!!

My 17 month baby had a seizure. His fever spiked up quickly and caused it. The hospital said it is common for children 6 month-6years to have this happen. Any other moms experienced this because it is the scariest thing ever?

UMMMM, no.  I have hear of febrile seizures.  How high was the temp.  Not so sure if it is a common thing, but I don't know.  Keep an eye on your precious one.  My little guy had petite mal seizures when he was little.  I guess that was something he fortunately grew out of, so maybe it is a common thing with kids.  He would have staring spells and you couldn't get his attention.  I would clap my hands and scream his name, but nothing.  Very scary.  He had MRI's and EEG's.  They found abnormalities, but nothing they could do.  He is 4 and fine now.

This has not happened to me, but it happened to a child at the day care I worked at. I wasnt there, but I know afterwards if he had a fever of 99 or greater were to alternate tylenol and motrin, I am not sure the time frame, its been a while. But I know that they said it was because his fever spiked so fast so quickly, that his body went into shock. Febrile seizures I believe its called.

My son is epileptic, once children have more than one seizure you should be concerned, seizures are a good thing to a point they release the pressure on the brain, unfortunately, if seizing too long it could cut off oxygen as cause arrest to the heart. When seizures happen with fevers, try not to worry, but watch your child once you realize that when a high fever comes this could happen again, have the advil or tylenol ready, good luck & I hope this is a one time incident.

Yes it is one of the scariest things it happen to my daughter when she just turned 2. She actually slept with me that night, cause my husband worked midnightes. I didn't think of it as a seizure i just thought she wasnt berathing so i tried cpr but she was so stiff as i was talking to 911 she started coughing but she was still out of it and not herself. So we went to the hospital in the ambulance and they said it was a febrial seizure. My daughter turned 3 in November and still to this day i make sure she don't sweat when she sleeps, and when she has fevers i get nervous. I actually asked the dr what would happen if i didnt see anything she said they would of been fine. But yo look at something like that you only think the worst.

This happened to my 13 month daughter as well. Luckily we happened to be in the hospital when it happened, so although it was still terrifying, I think I was much less panicked than I would have been if I had been by myself. The doctors told me that since it has happened once, it is more likely to happen again, but that she will grow out of it before too long. Also, apparently it does no harm as long as it is under 5 minutes long (I think it is usually under one minute, but that seems like forever!!)

This happened to my little girl at just 3 months!!! my botfriend was with her at the time so i was a bit calmer than him when getting her to the hospital. she spent 2 days in our local hospital as they could not control hertemperature and her body was covered in a rash, which the body does to try and control the fever apparently. it has never happend since. i we always look out for signs when she is poorly as she made funny noises before it happened.
