Baby is 6 weeks old and I'm still bleeding...

Hi. Firstly sorry any mistakes i will make writing,im notthe best.
I had my baby boy by c section july 13th.
i bled after birth until i had the injection. still though im abit worriedbecause since that i dont seem to have stopped. im lucky ifit stops for a week, ive lost count of wen my periods due because i bleed almost all the time. sometimez lighter but itseems to be like a brown color then sometimes small bloodclots.

well im still bleeding i did stop for few days then all of a suden started to bleed agen i thought nothing of it just thought i was geting that dot at the end of a sentice but as of 2 days ago this being the 3erd day i started to have majore heavy bleeding like im haveing gushes i went to the hospital yesterday and do said my hemaglobin is like 125 im soaking through pads like crazzy fast and he said to do nothing and sent me home like hounistly this is like crazzy im dizzy im tiyerd im geting head akes and just dont feel good and they arnt doing anyting about it any sugestions

I noticed after both of mine that my bleeding slowed down quite a bit after a few days, and then picked up again once I started getting more active. Anytime I walked for an extended period of time, the bleeding would get heavier. I did bleed for over 6 weeks with my second son. although it wasn't heavy bleeding by that point, more spotting. When I went for my 6 week appointment, the dr. said I had a small polyp on my cervix that looked like it could bleed and that might be what was causing it. The bleeding stopped shortly after that though.
If you're not soaking through a pad in an hour, feeling weak, or passing clots larger than an egg (that's what they told me), I would think you're probably okay to wait until your appt, since, like you said, it's next week anyways.

Thanks ladies. I had my iron levels checked a couple weeks ago when I was having bloodwork done for an unrelated problem and my iron is fine. I did have one of those big gushes one of you was talking about about 3 weeks ago but haven't had one since and I have had some big clots but talked to a nurse about that when it happened. One of you mentioned breastfeeding helps and I am exclusively breastfeeding and have been all along. I doubt part of the placenta was left behind because they made sure I was cleaned out really well because I had some internal bleeding after delivery. Also, my doctor went over the placenta really well to make sure it was all intact. I just wanted to make sure other women have bled for this long because none of my friends did and I didn't with my first. Sounds pretty common and my appointment is less than a week away so I think I will just wait. Thanks!

I only bleed 3 weeks with my older 2, then bleed 6 weeks with the last one. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned, its always better to have your mind at ease or get things checked. After all you have a new baby and alot on your mind already without having to worry about something else!

Go see your doctor. I had the same problem. The doctor had to give me some pills to stop it because I kept fainting.

Yes definitely see your doctor if you are still bleeding heavily you may have a bit of retain placenta especially if the the delivering Doctor or midwife gave the cord a yank, that happened with me, I had stopped bleed ing at 2 week but still had the discharge and at six weeks suddenly started bleeding heavily, I went to hospital and they gave me some meds to make the womb contract and expel the rest of the placenta a clot about two inches in diameter. it happens. If you have heavy bleeding all along the other post is correct that your iron levels will become to low leading to excessive exhaustion on top of the lack of sleep from a new baby putting you at risk as well as your baby. its hard to be patient and loving when one is weak from fatigue whatever the cause.

I understand it was more than 6 wks for me. I had to go see my doctor if it goes any longer go see your doctor. Sometime your iron can go very low from bleeding.

After my child was born my bleeding only lasted two weeks then two/three weeks later again for a week. Everybodys body type is different so you may be perfectly fine. If you can not get in for a visit I would at least call and talk to a nurse who would be able to give you the right advice and if it is something that needs attention I'm sure she'll get you right in. I bled for about 4/5 weeks, it seemed to slow then it started again and a huge piece of placenta that obviously hadn't come out presented itself in the toilet lol. It could be that some of the placenta is still inside you, then again bleeding usually lasts up to 8 weeks so don't worry, and if you are worried see your doctor.

it's different with each child. With my first i bleed for about 3 months and with my daughter it was 3 weeks and then when i was due to have my checkup i had to cancel becasue iw as bleeding for a period. If you can't do it at 6 weeks you can't do it, it's not the end of the world remember. Get on some Birth control and get your cycle in check adn then make the appointment. My daughter is 7 months old and i just started back on my BC last month because my cycles weren't regular and i still haven't had my 6 week checkup. She checked my stomach to make sure my abdomen is back to normal and i had the "go" at 6 weeks to workout.

I had bleeding for 12 weeks. It had kinda slowed down & then I got my period. I have heard many different variations on how long this can be...anywhere from hours to months. As long as you have no pain it should be normal. Did they deliver all of your placenta? Some women have extra bleeding if some placenta is left behind. Did they cut your nether regions? I had that & I think that caused extra bleeding because I tore on the inside aswell. I was 6 months before intamacy became comfortable again.

I know this probably isn't helpful, but myself, I bled for 8 weeks straight after I had my son and my doctor was okay with it being I wasn't throwing clots. She also told me that it was within the norm, although most are done bleeding around 4-6 weeks. =)

i bled like that for almost 8 weeks - dr told me it was quite normal as long as it wasn't a heavy heavy flow...it ended just like that though when it decided to stop

if i were you i would go in because to much lose of blood is not a good thing and you need to be healthy for your lil ones i would not let it going on any longer.

Yes it is totally normal I bled for a long time too. Just as long as you aren't having any serious pain you are doing fine.

It differs each time, with my first delivery I was done bleeding at 5 weeks, the second pregnancy was twins and a cesarean and I was done bleeding at 6 weeks ( I stopped wearing liners the day BEFORE my PP checkup) and then this last delivery was a singleton and I stopped at 2 weeks, a week later woke up to a gush of blood, lasted 2 days, then stopped... then 2 weeks later I woke to another gush. This continued until he was 3 months old. Its just how your body reacts each time. As long as its not excessivly heavy and you are cramping then Id say you're okay!
