My daughter is 14 months old and she is underweight, she has interest in food but it is tough to feed her. Can anybody post as to what can be given for breakfast , lunch, and dinner so that gradually she can put reasonable healthy weight

Are you actually in India? Do they eat butter chicken there or is North American Indian food like North American Chinese food? Lol. Anyways, that would put weight on anyone if you eat it in the quantity I like to. Stick your ghee on everything. Ha. I don't think you need to worry either, but butter on things never hurt a baby. Mmm...butter. I can't eat dairy right now because of my baby's eczema. Just talking about this is making me really hungry.

My daughter has been underweight all her life. She is just below average in size. She is actually perfectly normal for HER. If your doctor isn't concerned, then you shouldn't be either.

Whatever you are eating... a little easier on the spices/sauces/etc... in bite sized pieces that she can manage on her own 'should' be fine. Only try one new thing about every 4 days, so you can watch for a reaction.

Michelle is right. The 'expected' weight is just a guideline. If every kid was at the 'expected' weight... there would be no 5% or 95% on the charts. My son has been in the 25% for weight and height for 3 years now. Nothing wrong with that. ♥

The "expected" weight is just a generalization. She may just be a small child. If your doctor isn't worried then you shouldn't be. If she is putting on weight regularly then don't worry too much.

she is below the expected weight. Doctors say if she is active then do not worry about the weight but being parents we do have to worry right.

What do you call underweight? Is she still continuing to grow and thrive? Is her doctor concerned?
