My daughter is 10 & 1/2 months old. She is still breastfed. As of right now, I want to try baby led weaning. How does that work with starting whole milk? She hasn't had a bottle in a couple of months, and uses a sippy cup well. I actually nurse her 2 to 3 times a day and will pump 2 other times and give her milk in a sippy (along with water/juice). Do you give whole milk in addition to breastmilk? Or substitute? I'm going to be going out of town for a week when she is 13 months. I'm would like to know what to expect after I start milk.

I've been doing baby-led weaning with my 8 month old, but I haven't introduced any whole milk just yet. I don't think they need that introduced until after 1 year because it can be hard for them to digest. Plus whole milk doesn't really have all the nutrients that they need before 1 year. If you want to wean from breastmilk, then I'd suggest using formula for at least another month or so. Once you're ready to introduce the whole milk, mix it with some breastmilk so she'll accept it easier.

As for the baby led weaning, I'm just letting my son feed himself a variety of table foods. This shouldn't change milk intake all that much for now, it's mostly just for the experience of trying new foods. Here are some of my sites I use as guidance on BLW:
