Baby's first finger foods

I loved graham crackers with my first. They break into easy pieces for them to hold. I liked them because they taught her to take bites of something. I didn't worry about her choking because they dissolved quickly. I also liked Gripz - they come in cheese crackers or cookies. They're super tiny so you don't have to worry about them choking. They're sold by the crackers/cookies (by the 100 calorie packs).

I went and bought the big thing of animal crackers from sams club the can suck and chew on them like biter biscuits but you get way more for a few more dollars.

Green beans from a can (their soft), cut up bananas, cut up canned peaches, cheese cubes...things along those lines are what I gave my daughter after she mastered the puffs.

rusks with spreads (peanut butter, butter, cream cheese), rice crackers, toast or bread,biscuits, fish fingers, nuggets, potato gems, sliced fruit, sliced cheese, weet bix, boiled vegies etc

My grandson is 9 months old and loves to feed himself, so being creative with that and nutritious was a challenge...my own babies, now 25 & 19, didnt have all the neat stuff out today, so I used, frozen crinkle cut french fries, the ridges felt good on sore teething gums, and it was nutritious and safe, it would just mush all up and they could swallow. Frozen waffles great too, just lightly toast them, then cut them into strips, I never used syrup...too messy!! Ravioli in a can is good too, just cut the squares into 4ths, and put on the tray, messy but they love it. Also, frozen chicken nuggets, again just lightly warm in micro and be sure to cut up into little pieces. I always kept a container of green beans in the frig, they loved them COLD and very good for them. Good luck, just be careful to make the pieces small enuf not to choke, but not so small it frustrates them trying to pick them up. Canned fruit, mandrin oranges, all good too, and much less expensive than baby food. Get the kind packed in water or light syrup, and cut into smaller pieces...YUMMO

if ur child isnt allergic to eggs...french toast (cut into finger size)..mini queches and frittatas...over cooked veg (carrots are great)..piklets...crisp bread with vegimite (crispbreads are great..they rarely choke on it becos once it gets wet in your mouth it just goes sticky)...fresh fruits (watermelon is great for summer)..sushi..(tuna rolls- no raw fish of course)...sandwiches cut into soldiers...

Green Beans, carrots, deli meats (small pieces), pineapple tidbits, pear bits (I buy caned pears and cut them up into small pieces - daughter LOVES them!), cheerios, peas, ... basically anything that you eat that is soft and you can cut up fairly small.

My daughters loved the puffs. I also gave her cheerios. Because they have a hole in the middle i wasn't scared to give them to her. She still loves them.

My daughter loves toast, skinless potato wedges, cheese & vegemite scroll and crackers....oh yeah fresh fruit too :)

My daughter loved the gerber wagon wheels. Also rice rusks are awesome and of course cheerios. Does he have any teeth? If he does, graham crackers and regular crackers are great, even just a piece of cheese or you can break up a piece of bread for him.

have you tried gerber cheese puffs ? they are a great finger food
