Babywise technique and naps

My LO is now 15 weeks and I have been trying the Babywise method for 4 weeks now. I'm having a lot of difficulty with his naps.

He wakes up like clockwork at the 45 min mark and then proceeds to fuss or cry on and off for the next 45 min. Sometimes he can transition through it, but it's only 50% of the time. The other 50%, he's sometimes fussing, sometimes crying on and off for the second part of the nap.

I thought that maybe he was just finished after 45 min, so I tried going in to get him and he's still asleep. Every time. If I get him up after 45 min, he's so irritable for his entire A time. He actually gets angrier when I try to go in and get him, but he's sometimes screaming in his sleep. There aren't any tears, and his face isn't blotchy like he's been crying. It's very strange.

I've had him on a 3 hour schedule for about 8 weeks now, and he's doing okay at night, it's just the napping that's an issue.

He is still swaddled, and I tried one arm out but that was a disaster, so I don't think he's ready just yet.

He's also a tummy sleeper and sleeps with a movement monitor. He had silent reflux from week 3-12, but his symptoms have gone away for that.

I'm doing the CIO for the second part of his nap and going in after 10 min if he's still unsettled. I've been doing this for 6 weeks and nothing has changed. Does that mean this method just isn't going to work for him??

Babywise CAN be good for some babies, but disastrous for others. I never did Babywise, but my first two were on a 3 hour feeding schedule from birth and were 'textbook' nappers. I thought I knew it all and people who spent all day on the couch nursing and holding their infant to get some sleep were crazy. Then my third was born....... and I BECAME the mom I thought was crazy... because my kid was different.

It does not sound like your baby is a good fit for Babywise and I would abandon that book and parent to your child.
