Bad Ezcema!! Help!!

HI just saw your post and I had just posted this to someone else so I decided to copy and paste so I wouldnt have to retype it all:)



Yes! Yes! Yes! My daughter has had severe ezcema since she was 2(she is now 7)- bleeding, itching, oozing, flaky scalp with sores from itching, all over her face and whole body. Sores literally everywhere! We both had many sleepless nights full of crying and prayer. We did go to an allergist and found out she was allergic to milk, eggs, peanuts, treenuts, and coconut(which is literally in EVERY soap, shampoo, and lotion in some form). But even taking all these things away she was still tore up with no help and no clearing up of the eczema!! We have been going to doctor after doctor for 5 years and none of their creams and lotions were doing anything. Finally this past December of 2011 I bought some dead sea salt by Adovia online. I put 2 cups in her bath every other day- keep in mind her coconut allergy so I use no soaps, shampoos, or lotions, I just put her in the bath let her soak for about 10 min. and get her out.Her skin has done a 100% turn around! She has almost no more sores on her arms and legs, her scalp doesnt even have a little bit of flaking! Her face still looks a little dry sometimes but no more redness and peeling!!! When I brought her back to the doctor in Feb. she was amazed and kept saying over and over, " I don't even want to admit this but what you are using has worked way better than anything we have given you!" I am so happy and amazed:) She still itches a little but NOTHING like it was. I have before and after pics that would amaze you. The only problem I am having with her right now is the back of her neck and I think it is mainly from the sun so I have started leaving her hair down to block it. I am so thankful to God for letting me find this sea salt and I really hope it can help someone else too!!

My daughter had and has ezcema. From birth til today, she is 21. She also suffers from asthma and allergies. But to answer your question......we have tried alot of things and you will too. You have to find what works for your son. Different people resond to different things. I do however suggest that you use a perfume and dye free laundry detergent(Tide Free, Cheer Free). Bath him daily sometimes twice aday in plain water with a mild soap like Avenno or Dove Sensitive. Mosturize after each bath and several times aday with Cetaphil cream you can get this ove rthe counter. And as far as a perscription we used and love Eucerin cream! Mosturizing is the key to keeping him comfortable, eczema is very painful and bothersome. Best of luck and I hope you find what works for you and your son!

My 3 month old has just developed eczema. I have taken dairy, wheat, soy and eggs out of my diet and it is clearing up very quickly. Once it has gone I will re-introduce the foods one at a time to see if any of them make it worse. It is commonly dairy that causes eczema. There are many options for natural creams as well. I am using a calendula cream. The diet I am on is called an elimination diet. Once you have identified the allergen, keep it out of your diet and when your baby is on solids keep them off it. My 3 year old had eczema too and she outgrew it just after her second birthday. Good luck.

I feel for you, because as mother's, we hate to see our little ones suffer! My younger son has extreme eczema, in fact, he is a regular visitor at Children's Hospital because of it. From months 12-24, he had it so bad, that he literally had the same lesions open, for an entire year. After going from pediatrician to dermatologist, to allergy testing...he finally got referred to Children's. They biopsied him, and did cultures, but still think it is bad eczema. The moment we started doing something called "wet wraps" at bedtime, was when we saw much improvement! Of course, we still bathe him in luke warm water (short baths!-water is very drying), and pat him dry (don't rub, because it will irritate the eczema), then followed by CeraVe Cream (dermatologist recommended it, found it at Wal-Greens), aquaphor as others suggested is helpful too. I still use Dreft for his clothes. FOr the wet-wraps, we were told to apply his ointment prescribed by his Dr. (we have a basket full of different types-steroidal ointment/Fluticasone, Triamcinolone, Protopic) to his "hot spots," then smear on a thick layer of aquaphor over it-don't rub it in, then we take 100% cotton gauz, and make it damp, dunk it in water, then ring it out. Next, wrap the damp gauz around a couple of times, then follow it by dry gauz, and something to secure it in place, we just cut the top part of tube socks, and slid his hand/foot through it. I know it sounds like a LOT, and it can be a bit time consuming, and frustrating according to the age, but our little guy learned to just lay there, and met mommy/daddy do their thing. He is now 3 1/2, and we haven't done wet wraps in about 2 months. : ) Of course, moisture is the key!!! Try to apply it 3 times a day. Also, if he begins scratching at it, be sure to always clip his nails, so he doesn't "dig." Good luck!

Please give him a bath in luckwater with oilatum for ten minutes 3 time a day don't use any soap, then put the betaderm oint 0.05% and then put vaselin on top of it you have to do this for at least one month my daughter still has eczema it won't go away you can only control it.ooohhhh i know how it feels, please try this talk to your doctor and ask for the perscription, and make sure to buy the oilatum it really helps. good luck

The best thing you can do is eliminate all "baby" soaps and lotions. Read lables carefully. Look for products that do not contain SLS or sodium laurel (laureth) sulfate. This is the #1 reaction causing chemical in soap/detergent. Even many "natural" items still contain it. Also, chemical based synthetic fragrance is reaction causing. A few suggestions: California Baby Super Sensitive. Habibi Baby Body Shampoo & Bottom Balm - I use it everywhere. WEN, Aubrey Organics, Avalon Organics. They are expensive, but if you're not shelling out $$ for prescription creams, it's worth it to spend more on preventative measures. Also, Castile Soap is wonderful! Dr. Bronner's is a big name, but many small stores or home based companies make castile soap. SLS is in many toothpastes, but most people have a reaction due to skin contact with these chemicals. However, others choose to eliminate this as well. Also, use a zinc sunscreen not things like Water Babies or Banana Boat. Look into SLS free laundry soap. Vermont Soap Works has a great laundry cleaner called Liquid Sunshine. http://www.vermontsoap.com/order.shtml My son had ezcema so badly that it developed a staph infection when he was an infant. We spent countless amounts of money with several doctors before I researched other options. We treated the infection with oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics, and used Protopic to treat the rash. Once we treated, making the soap/detergent/cleaner changes has virtually eliminated his outbreaks, he is now 8, and we still use these types of products, and never used anything else with our 3 younger children. I even send a small foaming bottle of soap with him to school because using the school's soap causes his hands to blister. His grandparents have small bottles of the laundry soap that does not cause reactions for the sheets on the bed that he sleeps on when he is there. Please do not listen to the people that tell you not to worry, because although it isn't life threatening, (unless you get a secondary infection that isn't treated) eczema is extremely uncomfortable, even painful, and can cause scarring. Our dermatologist told us eczema is the skin's version of asthma. Often it is allergen based. Doing a little detective work to determine the trigger, and making some changes is usually all it takes to clear it up! Best of Luck.

I am 51 years old and rarely use any kind of soap due to ezcema issues. However, I can use some shampoos to wash with. Now I know why. How enlightening! Thanks Donna :)

My daughter too suffered from this and everything the Dr's gave us did not work. Finally we decided to try something we should have tried from the beginning: Cow's Balm. When we did, it completely went away and she never had another problem. You can buy it at some local grocery stores, Central Market, Whole Foods, maybe CVS, etc. Now do not be surprised. It is black and goopy and you spread it on the area. I used it for my daughter's severe cradle cap and ezcema. Best stuff ever! I suffered from ezcema in the past, however if I have a flare up I just use this and all is well. No itching, no scars, etc!! I hope this helps. You could also try - Avon's Skin So Soft - if they still produce it. This works OK.

eczema is commonly caused by allergies -- if you don't want to tackle that one, just keep aquphor around and do it every night. switch to aveeno soap (this helped my kids) and yes, they do outgrow it.. usually by 2

My little boy had an infant eczema/dermatitis that he grew out of, my doctor told me to moisturise him with a 50/50 mix of vaseline and sorbolene. Its cheap and because of the mix stays on the skin, a bit greasy I know but it worked for us. Good luck ! We were also prescribed Celestone-M for the bad spots, this is a wonder cream and I still swear by it, but get the ointment instead of the cream so that it stays on longer (rather than the cream) unless you are using it near the face.

My baby had horrible ezcema terribly in his joints and cradle cap. It would wheap and then get get dry. We went to my GP who referred us to the pedertricion who diagnosed ezema but the creams for this didn't work. My GP then sent us to an adult dermatologist who diagnosed him with sephotone dermatitis (not sure of the spelling). He said that is why steroid cream would not work. We then used zinc (curash) when it was "wet" rash and AQUAPHOR when it was dry. It calmed it down a bit, happy to report he is now 2 and completely grown out of it!

Un scented Vaseline works wonders and pure shea butter that comes out of the nut. Its hard to find but it works.

My daughter had ezcema on her face from 9-13 months. Her face had big patches all over it. I tried all the prescription creams and over the counter creams and nothing worked. Finally the doctor prescribed her a short course of oral steroids and in two days it had cleared up dramatically. Steroids are very strong, and she ate constantly, but it was the only thing that helped. After that she never had ezcema again. Hope this helps. I know how frustrating it is and I have my daughters 1 yr. birthday party pics to always remind me. Good luck

my baby had excema over 80% of her body, it started at 6 months old. we washed our baby's clothes in purity (from coles), also covered her in dermeze, (a big tub with a screwtop lid, made by a childrens hospital, from any chemist or they can order it for you) is very greasy but worked well for her. she was also allergy tested and put on a prescription formula, hers turned out to be an egg allergy which is what the immunisations are based on. she is 18 months old now and apart from the occasional flare up is fine...hope this helps you!

My son has suffered with Ezcema since he was a baby we struggled with different types of creams and lotions. My mother in law suggested we try Imu (Emu oil). My father in law suffers from severe skin rashes and it helped him so we tried it... It worked miracles. I don't know how safe it is for infants but there is a lot of info on the web to research.

My son (4) had it and the doctors did all the same with him. My daughter (2) had it as well. The doctors tried to give me all kinds of meds, etc. I learned from my son that the meds just irritated and made things worse. I use Aveeno for Eczema bath soap and lotion. Works great and neither one of them even have a trace of it now. When my daughters got bad I also used baby oil right after the bath. Their skin looks GREAT!

My 1 year old daughter also has very bad exczema, to the point where people stare and point at the swimming pool. They assume she has some disease because of all the red patchy, scaly spots. I really hope she will also outgrow it but in the meantime I SWEAR by the Aquaphor. Our Dr also gave us these prescription creams which seem to do no good and say not to use everyday. I agree the Aquaphor is greasy but if it works to help relieve her exczema, I can live with it! Good luck :)

my daughter has real dry skin...her doctor told us to use Aquaphor and Eucerin (a calming cream). A good friend of mine has eczema and she says that an oatmeal bath helps her when she gets to itching real bad.

my daughter has it as well....i bathe her everyday n put cream (aveeno) not lotion on her while she's still wet....if all else fails use vasoline...it's cheap n works just as well

When my youngest was alot younger he also had eczema but grew out of it. I never used fancy creams or meds but what didworked for and till this day is AQUAPHOR it is a healing ointment that has worked very well. I have aslo known adults with severe eczema and it worked well for them as well. If you havent you might want to try it, very inexspensive @Walmart or Target

My little one has a mild case of eczema. My doctor told me to use Aquaphor ointment. You can get it over the counter. It is kinda greasy, but if he's wearing pants it shouldnt get all over the place. I found it too greasy for my child and I use Eucerin Cream now. I also changed my laundry detergent to a dye free/perfume free brand. Hope your little one gets some relief soon!

Use Cetaphil cream (over the counter) every day.



I also went to the dermatologist and he prescribed Desonate (desonide gel 0.5%). This stuff worked miracles.



My little guy gets so bad that we have open wounds and this stuff helped. Same issue most of the lotions have alcohol or perfume that made he skin burn and he'd scream for hours after I'd spend a small fortune on the stuff.
