So I keep my almost 3 year old in panties all day and night. She still has a few accidents each day. But my question is, how do I go about training her at night? She wets the bed each night. I take Supernanny advice but she says that you should keep a diaper on them until they have a dry diaper for a long period of time. Is this right? But you don't want to confuse them, so I'm confused.... Please help! My oldest daughter was 3 1/2 when she finally was potty trained and never wanted another diaper on so I didn't have to worry about this. My younger one wants a diaper. Help!!

Hi,

My 4th son who is 2yrs old has been Potty trained During the day since he turned 2 in February but he still wears Pull-ups at night - Occasionally he will wake up dry but he is usually wet - I don't rush it - all my boys potty trained when they were ready - my oldest was fully potty trained at 3yrs3mo, My second was 2yrs6mo and my 3rd was 23 months My 3rd - once he was Fully potty trained NEVER had an accident, However son's #1 & 2 wet the bed for a whole year - we ended up trying an "Old Wives Tale" that my Grandma suggested and it worked almost over night - Right before bed you give them a spoonfull of honey (as long as they are old enough) - I Have no Idea what it does - but it worked and I would try it again if I had too, but I do not feel putting them in pull-ups at night confuses them, plus they sleep better as they don't wake up in wet sheets.

She may not be ready to train at night. Toilet training is not just about training it is also about physical readiness. There are certain brain messages we need to have developed to wake us while we are sleeping to get up and go to the toilet. If she is wet every night, it is possible she is not quite readt.

I used the 50% rule with my kids. Once they were dry in their pull-ups 50% of the time at night (I always checked their pull ups first thing in the morning), I started the night time training.

If I were in your position, I'd put a pull-up on her at night and wait until she is dry at least half the time in the mornings, and then you may have more success and less stress.

I am in the middle of potty training my 2 yr old. She is in panties all day and night. We've had more successes than accidents and night time is the best! I don't let her drink anything from after dinner (about 6:30p) until she goes to bed (about 8:30p) unless she absolutely fights me. We go potty before bed, sometimes she goes sometimes she doesn't. If she doesn't go then I check on her in about 1/2 an hour to 45 min after bed (she sleeps with the TV on so she doesn't really go to sleep until about an hour after I lay her down). If she's awake I tell her we need to go potty and take her to the potty( she always pees then if she didn't the 1st time). I then lay her back down and she goes to sleep. In the morning I make sure that I wake her up, I don't let her wake up on her own. We then go straight to the potty and she pees. So far we've had better luck at night, there has only been 1 time she peed and that was the 3rd day of training. We hit 1 week total of training today!
