Been in labour since monday night 3.4cm dilated at home now what should i do?Ask a Question!

im 39weeks pregnant with my 4th son went into labour monday night had really good hard contrations came every 5mins went to hospital was 3.4cm dilated the midwife streacthed my cervix for me hoping it would make things happin faster but it slowed it down came home tuesday morning still nothing now being friday im still getting good hard contrations but they are coming every 20mins now any ideas on how to induce my labour and speed things up?

thanks guys iv tried the walking iv tried everything i can possible think of but nothing seems to be working at this point but i guess the nest best thing i can do is just go back to the hospital so they can induce me thanks

If your water hasn't broken yet, try having sex. Semen has prostaglandins, which help to soften your cervix. Also try nipple stimulation. Walking is good, too.

If you have an exercise ball straddle it and rock back and forth. If you don't have one just use a kitchen chair to straddle. Walk walk walk, even if you can't get outside to walk, so it in your home. Go up and down stairs, do squats too.

walking up and down stairs helps followed by a bath, take a jug into the bath with you and pour water over your bump it helped speed up my labours. good luck

Have you been walking around alot? When I was in the hospital my midwife had me bounce on a big ball to break my water. If you have a breast pump you could try using that, it should make you have more contractions. Or if you are ok with meds. you could go to your hospital and ask them to give you some pitocin (sp?), that would induce labor.
