My husband has a fairly small car (2009 Toyota Corolla) and we need to get one of those convertible car seats for it. We bought a Safety 1st Air Protect and it does not fit in his car very well at all. It doesn't recline well in the rear facing position, our knees are almost in the steering wheel, and my daughter screams the entire time she is in it when it's in his car. It fits pretty well in my Honda Accord so we just have it in my car, but we need one for his car too. Do you have any suggestions for a good quality convertible car seat for a small car?

Go to carseatdata.org. You put in your car's make, model, and year as well as the type of car seat you are looking for. It will then give you the ones that will fit and rate them for your vehicle. I found this site after buying a car seat that didn't fit in our car.

The Combi Coccoro is a great convertable seat. My daughter loves it! We are about to move her into a harnessed high back booster and my son into the coccoro because he is getting too big for his infant seat. You can get it in so many different colors too. It goes upto 33 lbs rear facing and 40 lbs forward facing. The hight limit is 40 in. This is from the website. www.combi-intl.com

description

The lightweight and compact Coccoro convertible car seat is compatible with smaller vehicles. Three Coccoro seats can be installed in the rear-seat of vehicles such as the Toyota Corolla. A 5-point harness with padding, Tru-Safe® Buckle, forward and rear-facing lock-offs, energy absorbing EPS foam and 4 position height adjustments make for a safe and comfortable environment for your child. An adjustable infant insert can be positioned to the recommended 45 degree angle for your newborn. The single-pull adjustable harness system, shoulder belt retainers and washable seat cushion add convenience.

check your area for people who are licensed to install car seats. Our fire hall does it for free and also a car dealership. they might be able to recommend one but remember if you don't find one that fits you can take it back to the store...but double check on the policy before buying. also measure the back of the car seats and then go out to your vehicle and measure, we had to do this when our first needed to go to convertible as we only had a Toyota tercel and we ended up buying a van a few weeks later because we couldn't find one that fit. It was a 2 door car though and i'm so glad we have the van now lol.
