I have a 2 1/2 year old son who is completely potty trained ( both poop & peed ) as long as he's naked... he will not wear "big boy" underwear.. He screams, yells, & runs away if you go anywhere near him with them. he would rather wear a diaper. any ideas?

My mother i law said she potty trained her boys...by buying them Mickey mouse underware and kept saying "don't poop on Mickey mouses face"  and that worked.  Try letting him pick out the underware with his favorite character on it and try that.

Thanks for the ideas, we've tried the whole spongebob, deigo, winnie the pooh, boxers, boxer briefs, training undies... nothing's worked!

it's just frusterating because he's been completely trained since a week after he turned 2, and it's been 8 months of trying to get underwear on and no such luck!

My 3 y/o son also doens't like underwear. We have had to fight him a few times, but he is learning. I often jsut let him go without as long as he has pants on.

Having underwear that he likes ie starwars, spongebob etc, makes it easier to keep them on him. Also the disney store and disney online have a great selection of boys underwear if he likes a certain disney character. Good luck.

I don't know where you live but here in the Northern Territory here in Australia we bypass the underwear and just let them go naked at home and shorts only - no underwear when we go out - if that's not an option try the boyleg underwear style - it's how I had to start off with my 7 year old when he went to school to get him to where underwear - it's not as constricting on their legs - Good Luck!

maybe boxers are the way to go, tell him they are shorts for under the pants or something..

Mine is 3 1/2 and we're lucky to keep underwear on him longer than fifteen minutes.  My father in law drops by and says "is that boy always naked?"  I tell him, well we don't start out naked, but we end up that way.  He drops them when he goes to the bathroom and then never puts them back on....

Have you tried taking him shopping and letting him pick out what kind he wants. Or maybe have several different ones he can choose daily.
