So my son woke up at 4:30am this morning but was just playing in his crib, so i just let him be, he finally went back to sleep for at least 10min around 5:45am, i went to check on him ( istill go in a check to make sure he is breathing for no reason several times a night) and i found him breathing but sleeping face down on his hands. i moved his head to the side and he put in back. so i turned him over, and he went on his side and turned his face so now im up and checking him every 5 mins or so. My son will be 7months on the 22nd and has never slept on his tummy i have always put him on his back. Has anyone else had this happen to them? and do you know if a sleep postioner would work at this age?

At your son's age, there isn't much you can do to keep him from rolling over. If he is able to roll over than he is also able to turn his head. He is now coordinated enough to move on his own. My son is 8 months and always ends up on his stomach by morning.

a sleep positioner at this point would probably not be a good idea, more dangerous i would think...sleep positioners are only for babies who are not moving all that well yet (if you look at the boxes they actually say only for babies that can not roll out of them) we had one for our daughter and at 3 weeks she was already getting out of it...i found her one morning with it almost on top of her...very scary.but the angelcare monitors are a good idea if you need peace of mind

My daughter has been doing that since she learnt to roll over. A sleep positioner did not help for long because she soon learnt to squirm out of that as well. What helped me to get sleep again was having a motion monitor under her mattress. At this age they should be old enough to know to move their heads if they get too stuffy, but that monitor just helped for my own sanity!

it isnt the rolling over part that bugs me its the face down that scares me.

My son rolls onto his tummy and he isn't even 6 months old and i can go in 10 minutes after he has gone to sleep and he will be on his back. Its scary to start with but it how they want to sleep and like Jess said if that how they want to sleep they wont let anything stand in their way!!!!!

My daughter is 7 months old has been sleeping on her tummy for months now. She has stopped breathing and been rushed by ambulance to the hospital. So I can completely understand your concern. If your son finds his tummy the most comfy way to sleep, he will continue to roll into that position. We have found the sleep positioner to be of no help. A determinded baby won't let anything stand in there way !

We have an agelcare monitor, if she stops breathing an alarm will go off. Provides peace of mind, and I get a good nights sleep and so does my daughter !
