My son was 9lb 4oz when he was born, in the 95th percentile for his weight. And at 1 year he is 20lb 5oz and has dropped to the 15th percentile for his weight. He had a reflux problem between 3 and 4 months that affected his weight he lost 6 ounces in a month, and since then the doctor has been seeing him every two months. He is a very active little boy never sits still and is always on the move and an early walker( about 11 months) But yesterday in the store a woman in the baby section called him tiny.. I'm just wondering if there are other others out there that have "tiny" one year olds??

My son was 5'10oz at birth (5 weeks early) and was 22' at 1 year. Yup tiny! He wore 18month clothes. Had acid reflux also. Early walker, always on the move. Ate pretty good after the acid reflux. He went two winters wearing the same clothes! He finally got up to 28 lbs when he was 3! TINY He could walk under tables. LOL Over the summer when he was 4 going on 5, he went from 24month clothes to 3T. OMG!!! We couldn't keep up with him! He went from tiny to HUGE. I have a chubby 7yr old. I now worry about him being overweight! We have all healthy food in our house. He rams all day. It is amazing the change and even the doctor is stumped! We are on the wait and see with this new change as we were when he was tiny! LOL As long as your son is growing, even slowly, and hitting his milestones-don't worry. Enjoy this tiny stage and take LOTS of pictures-someday people won't believe you!

You're family history could be a factor. All of my kids look older than what they are because they are very heavy. I don't have tiny babies.

But if you are concerned about his weight, there are things you can do to help with weight gain. We had this problem with our 4 year old. He always was in the 95th percentile then he dropped to the 20th percentile for weight but was still 95th for height. So we added lots of cheese, ice cream, whole milk, lots of pasta. He gained weight to even him out and now he's consistent for his size. He is also ADHD so he burns lots of energy.
