My son who is a litlle over 2yrs, has been developing boils for the past 4 months.. No one can seem to explain were these are coming from. He was tested for MRSA 2times and both times neg. His last boil had to be lanced off. These are very painful for him and for me as his mother to watch.. He currently has one on his bum along with a fever. For the most part his boils have been in the diaper area but not always. I would love to know if anyone else is going through this or any suggestions to prevent this. We have tried using Hibeclense, he has been perscribed bactrim, we have done the med that goes up the nose. nothing seems to work. I would love to here any suggestion.

I rember getting them for a while, and then and older lady told me to try using honey.  Put a good amount of it ona gauzz.  The honey will naturally heat up and bring the area to a boil.  I got them for about two years straight.  I know how painfull it can be to have them lanced.  Good luck!

Try using baking soda. Take some baking soda and water and make a paste. Put it on the boil. Leave on the paste until you check his bum again. Try and keep it on the boil all day. That way you know if it is working. Good Luck

My brothers little girl is getting boils. She has been getting them for several months., She is two also. She cries all the time because of the pain. I keep looking it up but have not foung anything. I read somewhere to put neosporan in the nose twice a day for 1-2 months. We have not tried it yet cause I just found it. I do not remember the website but i will try to find it again . I will keep checking back cause if you find something that works I want to know. This is sad to watch and painful for her.

I am not sure if they pinpointed it down to something or not?  I would have to talk with my Mom about it and get back to you.  I know I was quite small though when I got them.  I believe I was still in diapers and would get them on my bottom but I will double check that, but that was over 30 years ago, so what they did then for kids is different then what they did now.  I just know they never got to the point of having to be lanced.  It would be nice if you were able to use the salve so that you could get around having to have them lanced, if that is what it would take?  Well, I would say to follow your doctor's advice.  They obviously know your child and the situation better than I.  I will talk to my Mom to see if she remembers what brought them on and get back to you.

Thanks for the advice, my mom keeps telling about the salve too!  I actually just spoke with the Dr and because of age and were it is  and because hes still in diapers it's not reccomended!!  Was there a reason that you got boils???  These came out of nowhere.  I'm just trying to figure out if its something he is eating or drinking  or the detergant I use. I just feel so bad for him. thanks for the advice!!!

I used to get boils on my bottom when I was little.  I remember my mom using a black paste/salve on them.  Today they have a black salve called Draw Out Salve.  I believe you put it on a bandaid and place it on the boil and it will bring it to a head and it will burst which obviously makes it feel much better, but be sure to clean it up real well so that the infected pus does not touch the other areas of skin.  I am sure you can put a topical antibiotic on them once they burst to prevent any further infection?  I don't remember mine ever getting to the point of having to be lanced.  OUCH!  I am assuming they have to do that for infection reasons if they do not pop on their own?  Well, if you haven't already, maybe try the drawing salve.  It sounds like you have been dealing with these for a while though, so you probably have tried it.  Good luck to you!
