I was wondering at what ages other moms moved their toddlers up to the booster car seat. My oldest daughter will be 3 and a half when my youngests turns 1. We have 2 forward facing car seats, so I could keep my oldest in one for longer, but she is currently 34 pounds and 38 inches tall...the "recommended" is 30 lbs minimum and 30 inches minumum, but I have also read "recommended" 40 lbs and 48 inches. Any thoughts? She has also been telling me lately that the seat belt pinches her legs on the forward facing seat....is that a que to move her up now?

When my kids complaint that seatbelt piches their legs, I stop using the part of the belt between the legs, and just use the chest portion of it. Then when that is too tight, I move them to a booster. My oldest was almost 6 when we hit that point. I really feel it depends on the childs individual size. I say, if you are close enough the "rules of weight" use your own judgement. As long as they are in a seat and buckled, I think you are OK.

I am not sure where you are Courtney, but in Australia, a toddler can't be transferred to a booster now until age 4 (prior to that they must be in a forward facing car seat with a five point harness). I didn't put my daughter in one until she was 5, but she is quite little for her age.

You might wanna check the laws in your area... Here in Ohio the new law is the child is to be in a car seat until 4 yrs old and 40 lbs, then a booster until they are 8 years old and 80 lbs

Yeah, the straps are all the way out. She has kinda skinny legs too, so I'm a little dissapointed in our car seat. We bought "the best" one on the market, a Britax, and it has been wonderful, but those darn straps by the legs/crotch area have always been tricky.

Is it adjusted all the way out for her? Sometimes the straps are movable to allow for taller kids.
