Yea, pls try the lanolin suggestion. The pain is likely to disappear. And then, don't be discouraged. Continue with the good stuff u started, breastfeed!

Could also be a yeast infection in you breast! I know I got one with my second child while everything was going good and it hurt like a hammer to the nail. My Doc told me to apply the same cream you use on athletes foot and make sure to wash your breast off before feeding. I used it for a few days and it really did help.

Nipple pain can be helped with a nipple shield, you can purchase it in the baby area of your local pharmacy. 9 weeks and doing well previously, indicates you are doing it right.Drinking warm beverage and try to relax during the feeding, all this helps with the milk let down reflex.Lanolin is a great idea Tracy. There are sometimes when nursing can be quite uncomfortable but with time it will abate. Good luck and happy nursing!

Ok, is it a pain in the mass of the breast, or more on the surface of the nipple? If it's the nipple go get some lanolin. It's sold with the baby products at the grocery. Its a creamy oil you can massage onto your nipples after a feeding too keep them soft and from chapping. It's completely safe for the baby too. I've used it not only there, but other very chapped/dry places on my body and it's amazing stuff. If it's a deep in the tissue pain, I'd suggest calling your dr. Could be mastitis, which won't affect your milk, but will cause you tremendous pain. Good luck and congrats on the new bambino!
