Breastfed baby....formula at night??

My son is 6 1/2 months old. He is exclusively breastfed, but also gets cereal, oatmeal, fruit, veggies, and juice. BUT MAINLY BREASTMILK.

I have heard that formula lasts longer. A friend of mine who breastfed her baby gave her baby 1 bottle of formula at night before bed to help her sleep longer and not wake as much in the middle of the night.

I am thinking about doing that, but like i said, he only gets breastmilk. The only time that he got formula was the first 1-5 days after he was born bc he was jaundiced. My worry is that he will like the formula so much that he will reject my breastmilk. I am trying to breastfeed him until 1 year.

Any suggestions, opinions, and insights....would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I actually breast feed my daughter first and then give her a small amount of formula to keep her fuller for a longer period of time during the night. She still prefers breast feeding so I don't think you will have a problem with rejection. Good Luck!

Good luck, and you might try to put some cereal in his bottle too. That kept my kiddos fuller longer.

I switched back and forth between formula and breast milk with my little girl, after she started taking breast milk in a bottle. The first few times I just mixed it with the breast milk and then every time I mixed it I added more formula and less breast milk.
