my 11 and half month baby who was born at 32 weeks and 5 days has started to bum shuffle rather than crawl, whereas his twin sister can crawl and pull herself up, I know every baby is different, but was wondering how he will be able to pull himself up if he bum shuffles and doesn't kneel to help with this. Has anyone elses baby bum shuffled, and eventually managed to pull up onto furniture?

My 2nd little girl bum shuffled instead of crawling where as my first child crawled. Personally I think my little bum shuffler found it easier to pull herself up onto furniture etc then my first child, she basically went from sitting, lent forward, crabbed the furniture and pulled herself up without any real problems.

my niece always did that but it didn't stop her from standing when she wanted to!! Don't worry about it alot of children choose this method of movement over crawling!!

Hey Heidi, I can only agree that your boy will 'find his feet', son enough. So long as he can get to the things that interest him, & is mobile, he's doing just great.

Hi, my daughter bum shuffled from around 12 months until she was about 19months old, it does make them lazy as they can get to where they want to very quickly, and see where they are going - which they cannot if crawling. She went straight onto her feet and subsequently had to learn to crawl when she was old!!! I wonder if your son will watch his sister and get on his feet more quickly, my daughter got up once she started a couple of play sessions at nursery, but she did it in her own time, and your son will do so to.... enjoy the fun

My littlest girl bumshuffled! Honestly do NOT worry! It's good that he's mobile, and it does matter how they get around so long as they are (if that makes sense!)
My littlest girl never crawled at all, she went from bumshuffling straight to walking.
Ahhh, i miss her little bumshuffle now! Please don't worry, it's fine! :)

Don't worry - he will get up soon enough when something attracts him. My grand daughter bum shuffles and gets all over the place.

Monkey see, Monkey do! Eventually he will want to keep up with his sister and figure it out for himself.
