Can anybody recommend a book for HYPNOBIRTHING?

I want to try out the hypnobirthing fully this time!

Last time I waited so long to get a midwife that I was neary due before she told me about the wonders! SO I just concentrated on the natural things going on an=d managed to go without drugs but not exactly pain-free... Well I have just found out I am expecting number 2 and the idea of a relaxed, meditation and soft, calm, pain-free birth sounds LOVELY!

I want to get a book that will help me prepare myself and that is easy to understand and flick trough.



Planning on a homebirth, but circumstances meant I had to have my 1st in a hospital where they don't offer a water-birth. So I would love a book that covers all aspects, including laboring in a normal delivery suit (where I ended up even though I had booked the home-birth room due to over-crowding, there were 3 mums and babies put in the room I started laboring in!)



Any help inc websites, sourced greatly appreciated! I am in Ireland so any UK or IRL publishers would be great!! xxxx

Congratulations :-) I think it's helpful the whole way through your pregnancy. I would buy in the next couple of weeks. The beginning talks about the history of childbirth and is very enlightening. Then they talk about breathing techniques and you can start practicing, I think the more time the better. Althought the book is easy to read and follow I also recommend finding a class if you have any available near you, it was spendy but so well worth it for me, and it really made the book come to life. It's also helpful to go through it with other couples. I found this site you might also enjoy: http://hypnobirthingireland.com/ I would love to have a homebirth, that sounds wonderful, but my lovely insurance wouldn't think of covering it.

I highly recommend this book and CD http://www.amazon.com/Hypnobirthing-Appr... I am planning a hypnobirth in Nov. and have been taking classes based on this book. I've heard some women will bring headphones or a cd player and listen to the relaxation cd while birthing. I have really enjoyed this book. I hope things are going well for you!

Birthing from Within is a really helpful book. Lots of mental pain relief methods to work with it. It helps you work though securing your birthing space in many different situations, from homebirth to an operating suite. Not hypnobirthing, but I found it's techniques were sufficient to put me into a state of near hypnosis.
